How many lbs in the pipe

My trigger was great right out of the box - no need to change what works IMHO. ALWAYS one in the chamber . . . in a SD situation, seconds count as does your ability to react in the proper manner.

    Shield is UNSAFE

Sorry that this happened but I'm a little bit confused when I hear that no single part failure could use this much damage? I'm not defending S & W nor whoever the ammow was reloaded by . . I have no dog in this fight. But over the 50+ years I have been shooting, I have seen handguns that have...

    Quality control m&p shield

Ahhhh . . . you didn't notice this when you picked it up? If purchased at a LGS . . . or purchased online and shipped to a FFL . . did you not have the opportunity to look it over before you accepted it? Or do you have a FFL? Any of those scenarios you would have the right to either reject...

    38 hand ejector 38Spl

You might be able to take the stocks off - take a good digital photo of them and with some photo editing working with contrast and hue adjustment, be able to pull the pencil numbering out if it's there. Very nice revolver! I'll bet you're tickled to get it!

    My new Shield

Congrats on your new Shield and welcome to the "Shield Club". :-0 I'm older and have always been a "revolver guy" . . and still am. But I do own two 9mm semis - a Ruger sR9 and a 9mm Shield. I got the Shield to switch off to for CCW on occasion. I fell in love with it the first time I held...

    What's with The Shield Mania?

Hey . . . when a product is good . . . it's going to be popular. I have shot revolvers for 50 some years and my 9mm Shield is my second CF semi auto. I'm SOLD on it!

    Contrast sights vs nights

My opinion doesn't count worth a hill of beans . . but I was also thinking of changing my sights out on my 9mm Shield. I have decided against it. It may just be me, the size of my hands or whatever . . . but I am finding that the more I shoot my Shield, I am "muscle training" myself to the...

    ID and suggestions request

I really like nice vintage revolvers that show good honest wear . . and that old "warrior" is a nice one to my eyes. It's nice it is staying in the family as well! If that were mine, I would do nothing to it other than clean, oil it and shoot it as it is. What wear it has was honestly earned...

    Model 10 potential purchase

I have a 5" that is later serial # than the OP is talking about - mine was DOB of 1952 which is fine as I was born in 1952. I too object to the "old" . . well not really but I like those years . . . and mine is a great shooter.

    Need help with ID please.

Ooooooo . .. . Aaaaaaa . . . I like that one! Very nice! I'm a "shooter" and not a "collector" . . . and I would have snapped that up in a heartbeat! Congrats on your find!

    TV doesn't know much

Why would you expect anything any different? Hollywood is so far left that all they know is "guns are bad and nobody should have them".

Replace a J frame with a Shield, yes or no?

Everyone is different. Only you can decide. I normally carry either a Model 36 snub or a 3" Model 36. Both are easy carry on the belt for me. I purchased a 9mm Shield so at times I could have 8 rounds instead of 5 and a spare mag. When in AZ in the winter, we are about 45 mi. north of the...

? on Combat Masterpiece - main spring and firing issue

O.K. Thank you all very much! I'll try the spent primer with the anvil removed as well as swapping with the one in the M & P to see what happens. For only being interested in CF cartridge pistols for about 10 years, I've accumulated far more than I ever expected. I have five vintage Smiths...

? on Combat Masterpiece - main spring and firing issue

These are the photos of my M & P that I compared with the CM. The tension screw IS longer and when screwed in all the way, the mainspring base is pushed back tight against the back side of the slot in the frame. I have no issues with this revolver at all. All cartridges go bang when fired in...

? on Combat Masterpiece - main spring and firing issue

Thank you to all for your responses. I am posting some photos of my CM showing it cocked and uncocked as well as a closer photo of the base of the main spring and the tension screw. In response to the one post in regards to how I could determine if it was "bubba'd" or not. I am not an expert...

? on Combat Masterpiece - main spring and firing issue

I have a nice Combat Masterpiecd - I believe DOB of 1955 (from what I was told on here). Serial No. is K 2486XX. This revolver has very little blueing wear - just slight lightning of blueing at muzzle edge from probably holster wear. It does not appear to have been fired a lot. I have only...

    Another Mystery Smith

To go along with the OPs description . . . why did S & W not put logos on or drop them for a while after WW I?

    Gander Moutain Protection Plan

To each their own but I view such "extended warranties" such as this as strictly "money makers". When I am asked in any store to purchase one, my usual reply is "Why? Is it going to break? Do you not have confidence in what you are selling?". That usually stops the push as they don't know...

Pulled the trigger at Cabela's today

Congrats on your new (to you) handguns! As far as the Cook County sales tax goes . . . just remember that someone has to pay for all the corruption that goes on!? :-)

    Identify my swith and wesson.

Good advice already given on your pistol. After having dealt with insurance adjusters after a major loss a few years back (fire in a commercial building), I can assure you that the insurance company is only out for themselves. If they had their way . . . you'd be paying THEM for YOUR loss...
