    Shark Attack!

Imissedagain- Is the fossil tooth from a White or a Megalodon? Nice HS derringer. I knew a guy whose parents owned a gun store. He had high grade English double shotguns, but his only pistols were a derringer like that and a GI .45 auto.

    Shark Attack!

Be careful of shark tooth necklaces. I have one with a tiger shark tooth and quit wearing it after it got caught between my tee shirt and chest and was uncomfortable. I even got cut once! Tiger shark teeth are sort of heart shaped and serrated and will even cut into sea turtles.

    Shark Attack!

Oh: the white wine in the book dinner scene where Brody struggled with the name was Le Montrachet, pronounced, Lay Mon-ra-SHAY. Brody's wife went all out to impress the ichthyologist, with whom she had an affair in the book. That's often deemed the finest white Burgundy, and is quite expensive...

    Shark Attack!

Have you seen the photos of the big White Shark bite on Aussie diver Rodney Fox? Amazing that he survived. I'd read all of the shark books that Chief Brody had in, Jaws and newer ones. I think I have nine or ten shark books, now at my son's place. BTW, the book, Jaws is better and more...

    Shark Attack!

One of our board members had to spear a a grey reef shark off of Guam when it made a pass at him. Chamorros showed him how to cook it in a fire pit with vegetables. Said it was about six feet, but fast and aggressive.

    Revolver for Trout Fishing

Ruger SP-101 .357 with three inch barrel, or a GP-100. If it gets soaked, easier to take apart than a Smith. Keep it dry? S&W M-66 with four inch bbl. No large threats? M-60-4. Actually, with the right ammo, it could kill a cougar, etc.

    New Shoes and Slippers

The Courtney boot co. in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe makes wide boots of Cape buffalo, crocodile, hippo, and maybe other leathers, but no arches. Mine are buff hide with impala collars. South African dealers and Westley Richards in London sell them, as do a few US safari outfitters. One US dealer is...

    Chuck Yeager Still Alive?

I never had the honor of meeting him, but did meet her when she played Jeannie, at a TV station. Got Barbara's autograph and she was very gracious.

    Shark Attack!

Yes, but it's a deep water species, so mainly attacks ship and plane disasters, not surfers and swimmers. But that means you have many victims at once and prob. blood in the water.

    Shark Attack!

Bull sharks (C. leucas, if I recall the scientific name) range over a 1,000 miles up some rivers and live in some lakes, notably Lake Nicaragua. They secrete a lot of testosterone and aggression.

    Anyone up on Colt Cobra's...?

Gonna have Colt's timing issues and few gunsmiths will work on Colts. But a .32 stresses the alloy frame less, while being a poor stopper.

Help identify my SW 38spl hand ejector

A specialist collector will see this and help. Round butt? Gold medallion grips? Maybe 1905-1912? Photo needed, but serial no. may tell the tale. I doubt the cylinder is heat treated. I think that arrived ca. 1921 at over 316,000 serial no. I'm not a serious collector and do not portray one...

    45 colt

The sole .45 Colt I've owned was a DA New Service made about 1935. It was extremely accurate with Remington factory ammo. I fired a Colt SAA with 4.75 inch barrel a number of times while it was on writer's loan about 1975. Hard trigger, but I hear new ones are better. If you want a practical...

    Rest in Peace General Yeager

Does anyone know if flags are being flown at half staff in his honor? I can't go look.

    Rest in Peace General Yeager

I just saw this on YouTube. About a week ago, I checked him on Wiki; how ironic that he passed so soon after, about 9 pm tonight. I think he was 97. I read his books and those by his friend Col. Clarence Anderson. Thrilling. America has lost a great man.

    Who else likes Pachmayrs?

I have Grippers on a GP-100 and others on S and W's. They fit me well, handle recoil well, and don't scratch like wood does. The old two panel style is better made and easier to fit to the gun.

    Square butt to Round M10

What'll that cost? You need a really good job and factory rnd. butt grips may not fit. Try a set of Uncle Mike's grips if you find some, and you may like them enough to forego this project.

    Model 1950 Target 45 ACP

Mine didn't like soft lead Auto Rim bullets and I didn't want to bother with half moon clips. Back then, I had no idea the gun would become a collectors piece. I traded it in, I think on a M-29. More power and better accuracy for the same bulk.

    Montagnard Knife

What? No Randalls? Seriously, I suspect most SF men do use less expensive knives, as do most aircrew.

My first ever handgun - a story...

First handgun was a Webley MK VI .45 conversion at 13. Mother signed. Colt .45 M-1917 at 16, Christmas. At 19, my first buy, a S&W .455 MK II. Colt .45 auto, UK surplus, about 20. I should have been 21, but the dealer let me buy as I was in the USAF. I guess they weren't checked on much, or no...
