I have near always avoided Colt double action revolvers.
I've had a couple Pythons over the years but sold them.
Yesterday, I came across and 1972-73 vintage Colt Cobra
in .32 N.P.

Normally, I would not give it a second thought BUT...It
appears to be near 98-99%.
Drive out would be $650.00

My question:
Does the .32N.P. caliber hurt the value ?

I can't answer that specifically, but I can say that last week I was offered a 1977 Cobra at $550, and I took it...I was told at the time it hat a problem with a cylinder latch that would not release with only pressure from an arthritic thumb...When I got it home I looked at the exploded view on Numrich and from the way it works I think the problem is a broken or missing spring guide...Unfortunately Numrich does not have that in stock, so I'll refrain from pulling the sideplate until I know all parts are available...

It also came with a Colt accessory hammer shroud already installed...I'm pleased with it...:)...Ben

Normally the 32NP only decreases value a little , if any. Does it have a shrouded barrel making it the second issue? If so, I have never seen a 2nd issue Cobra in 32NP.

There plenty examples of 1st release Cobras like you are describing chambered in 32 NP. I don't think you are describing the deal of the century, but nothing wrong with a good 32 even in a Colt. I prefer 32 when it increases my round count by 20%, but I do like a Colt. The last I checked, 32s&w and 32 long are available.

The unshrouded ejector rod is more desirable to most, but that cartridge is a puny one, particularly in a snub nose gun. Regardless, some like the .32s.

Not necessarily, it depends on the scarcity. If it were shrouded and a 32 it would be extremely rare if not completely unheard of. There may not be any 2nd issue Cobras with shrouded ejector rods. A shrouded 3" Cobra brings twice what a 2" 1st issue generally brings.

Just speaking generally; I'm not a collector and don't know about scarcity.

Went ahead and bought it....
Colt website says 1975 production.

Bought my Colt Cobra new in '68 for $85 for off duty carry. Still have it, it still shoots great but isn't carried anymore.
