I have a M10-8 police/guard turn in. Mechanically in excellent condition, aesthetically not so much, as is the case with most turn ins that I have seen.
Carried a lot shot very little.
That being said, Since there were 6 million M10's made, would it matter if I turned it from square butt to round butt frame?

I know that this has been covered in the past, but with time has the thinking been changed to not to do it.

Being retired doesn't give me the financial ability to buy a round butt M10.

No love here for a round butt, but do as you please. Watch out that the serial number of the bottom has been factory placed in such a manner that it will not be molested in any way, or you will be in violation of federal law if you obliterate even part of it in any way. Some guns are OK, and others are not.

What'll that cost? You need a really good job and factory rnd. butt grips may not fit.

Try a set of Uncle Mike's grips if you find some, and you may like them enough to forego this project.

I copied this pic from a for sale ad long ago on this forum. I always liked mod 15 2"ers and this one is beautiful. It was done by a then member but I don't know who. I saved the pic because I thought maybe someday I could do one.

Here is what's left of an old police Model 15 with 2" barrel. I bought it around 1995. I was going to round the butt and re-blue it, but a guy who used to post here (Buff RIP) talked me out of it, and I'm glad he did.

BMCM did my M66 4" for me. He made up and sent a little template I could use to make sure the serial number issue would not get me before I spent the $$ to send it to him. I think it is a much better, more useable revolver that way. Back in the day, there were some savvy cops that swapped 4" barrels onto RB 2.5" frames. Ayoob and others have written about them.
