New Departure 1st Model - factory or refinished?

Nice looking new departure. Could be a fun shooter. As to the number of examples in fine condition, I believe may of these pistols were bought for home protection and ended up in a drawer somewhere. People were more mechanically inclined back then and knew to use an oiled rag to wipe the gun...

    Unique Model 19

Here in SC I think you could expect 750 for a pretty, nicely functioning Model 19 with no lock and factory reworked. What are you going to find new at that price that is a better revolver?

    Ethical Question

I have/had a number of German military pistols. None have Nazi era eagle proofs. Only Imperial or Weimar. My wife was a Jew. I do own one Sauer 38H civilian issue with an eagle proof. great pistol, ugly mark

Decision on What SW 44 Magnum to Buy

I have a 6" and 8 3/8". In my hands the longer the barrel the better I like it with factory magnum loads.

    Larger Caliber CCW

my suggestion is anything you are comfortable with that has adequate penetration, big holes in Jello don't mean much, and you have shot at least twenty rounds through in the last month.

    Shooting with my grandson

My Oldest Grandson, William, 27, came down last weekend to visit with the old guy for awhile. Besides consuming a lot of Mexican food and Carolina smoked pork (Bobby's in Fountain Inn) we did some fishing and made two trips to the indooor range. We were in the 15 yard side and ran our targets...

    And the war is on.

Although I agree with what you are saying, I do not think it is an established fact that we would not have proceeded without an Israeli request. Iran has been insufferable since they got away with taking our Embassy all those years ago. They are a world terror leader and they could no more be...

Smith&Wesson 38 revolver - Please help with Model Number & Date of Mfg.

Thank you for the correction, JP@AK. Once upon a time I was an active collector of Imperial German pistols. In cpmparison, I never cease to be amazed at how badly Smith could do in their stamping. I have always assumed they used roll stamping, but is that true?

Smith&Wesson 38 revolver - Please help with Model Number & Date of Mfg.

Although that pistol is not in really great shape it is not in really bad shape either and is an interesting example of post ww2 shift back to civilian production. I think the roll stamp on the barrel was modified from 38 S&W to 38 S&W Special, probably at the factory. Clean it up gently and...

    lament on old age.

I am 80. I just got upper dentures. That is not a fun thing. I still have fair vision, work on the forge once in a while. Make muzzle loading rifles, and shoot modern guns every other week or so. I thank God for what I have. I try to walk about 5 miles a day. This time of the year in SC...

I have been shooting black powder for over 60 years and seen many configurations and theories over the years. Yes, hollow based bullets have been around for a long time. I do not recall them ever being used for accuracy Most black powder handguns were designed for portability and convenience...

If You Could Only Own One Smith & Wesson… What Would It Be?

Assuming that something ugly must be happening to take me down to one gun, I think either my 5906 TSW or 645 would do to keep them from getting my model 41
