    The 'unofficial' 58 Club

I seem to have misplaced my S&W book, the edition I got my username in! :D , what was the first year of production, 64? I hope to find my birth year for my next 58 purchase, I believe 1966 is still a S prefix serial number. My current 58 is a N.

    The 'unofficial' 58 Club

Thanks guys. One load I have shot a few of from the 58 is 6 grains of Trail Boss under a 215swc (commercial cast). Only reason I shoot these so slow is they lead when driven hard. I am working with powder coating bullets now so I can shove these same bullets or my 245swc cast to much higher...

Model 617 with Burris 1.5-4x Handgun Optic

That Burris is a decent optic. I have had one on a 617 at one point but eventually went to weaver 2.5-8. The Burris is a huge scope for its power range. It's good out to 50 yards on targets and great for hunting. The weaver is smaller, lighter and has a bit better field of view. If your not...

    The 'unofficial' 58 Club

Here's mine! It obviously spent a large portion of its life riding around in a glove box. Internally, it looks like new. The ejector rod was almost perfect when I bought it telling me it wasn't shot much. I have put a few rounds thru it and will continue shooting it. The grips are modified...

    Who's got a Model 681?

Nice find. Over the years I've had both 581 & 681s. They equally shot well and as for looks, just something about a fixed sight Smith! Matter of fact, I picked up a 10-8 Friday. Local was just wanting rid of it and I had a few $ left over from Christmas, perfect combination, lol!

Please recommend grips for my square butt Model 10

Ahrends makes their grips for square butts too. I normally stock both and can tell you their Retro Targets are hard to beat for new grips. The Tactical are also very nice if you like finger groove grips. HIGHLY recommend both!

My 45c does the same thing. Its a lack of excessive slide lock engagement. ;)

    M&P shoots low...how to adjust?

I am not familiar with the 357 SIG version but I would also try a different brand of ammo. If it also shoots very low, then I would be suspect of the dreaded "trigger smash". Double action only style triggers with their long pull can lead even seasoned shooters to smash the trigger. As...

    Shield .45

As much as I am SIG fan, I carry a Kahr pm40 or 45 the most due to their size and ease of concealment. Both of those little guns are extremely popular and S&W WILL enter the single stack 45 sub compact (shield) market just as springfield has recently. Its really a no brainer. I REALLY hope the...

    M&P 45 compact Question

As long as the gun cycles and picked up the last round of the magazine when you fire it, not manually operating the slide, its operating as intended. Now, if you are having problems with the gun cycling when firing, I would send it in. Make certain that you aren't absorbing the recoil, aka limp...

    M&P 22 = Awesomeness

I got a chance to handle one today. other than the rear sight, I liked it. It looks well put together, has nice magazines and has a great feel just like the fill size guns. I have no shortage of 22 pistols, so I don't know that I'll run right out and buy one but based on what I seen I would...

M&P 45c in hand, now what?

While I understand your concern, I've been doing this for a while(possibly even longer than you've been alive) and I have a system in place to make certain that nothing gets launched at the TV. I also don't assume the gun is empty, its checked constantly. If you can't be confident in your dry...

Please Help. Best night sight for LOW light

For me, the standard Trijicon night sights are the only way to go. I do have a few pistols with Meprolights and they work font, I just prefer the daylight sight picture of the Trijicons, their white rings are very crisp and clean. The low light picture is second to none. Even XS uses Trijicon...

M&P 45c in hand, now what?

When I first brought it home, I couldn't feel the trigger reset. Now, after hundreds of dry snaps, its very notable. The trigger is much nicer now, the grit is gone and the pull weight has improved. My only real complaint with this pistol is that the area where the trigger guard and grip meet...
