    My Extraordinary Model 13

That's A Winner! Best Carry Revolver ever made. A few years ago these were really common and inexpensive. Not any more! I carry a M65, 3in, RB, with 158s. Shoots great. With a little practice, these are really accurate with full loads too. I'm Jealous! Great Find!

    K22 M17 4 Screw Barrel Question

Thanks Jim, I know, but it looks bad. I have already a really nice collection of S&W .22 revolvers that I don't shoot and I'm not trying to improve resale. I'm looking to improve appearance my one of my favorite range guns. I don't want to refinish the whole gun, just spots on the barrel. It's...

    K22 M17 4 Screw Barrel Question

Thanks That's as suspected. I have about a $100-150 budget. Removing the barrel is for a craftsman for sure. The finish on the rest of the revolver is beautiful. Just a quick buff a clean up the edge of the rib Funny! When my younger generation shooting buddies shoot this, They are amazed at...

    Cleaning Solvent Recommendations

No Hoppes! It eats the cooper baseplate under the nickel and can turn the nickel green with Copper oxidation! I have seen Hoppes 9 get under the sideplate srews an peel off plating. Usually happens where soaking solvent finds voids in plating. Try Kroil. H/P shooters use it and swear by it. Keep...

Hi, I just purchased a 1955 K22 Masterpiece #K25995x NIB w/tools for $1K (Photos to come) and did really well. This quality and workmanship is no longer available new from the S&W factory. Recently spotted a newer 10 shot M617 with the aluminum cylinders going for $750 Used! If you get this K22...

    Model 29-2 6" Nickel

Look it over really good for the nickel starting to peel. Look around the screw holes, along where the side plate matches up against the frame and where the crane moves into the frame. If you are going to pay top price make sure it's in top condition. M29's will probably not get any cheaper but...

Does having a box mean anything if it's not "the" box?

Boxes are Cool!, Photo contrast on Value. Hey Ya'll, Great Subject! My Opinion! All empty handgun boxes hold some value. I spread some of my collection out on the floor and took a couple of photos to show contrast on this thread. In my photos there are boxes that make a huge difference in value...

    Grip effect on value?

Hi, I was in the exact spot you are. I bought a M27(no dash)6 inch, four screw, with pachmayr grips. It was in excellent condition minus the Magna stocks I kept my eye out and found a really nice set of 60's, smooth targets in rosewood for $50 and it was worth the wait. My M27 looks and shoots...

    Post War M&P 5 Inch (1946?)

The S/N does have an S prefix but a big gap space between S and S/N. I missed that on the initial posting. I removed the grips and the S/N w/o prefix is stamped in the right stock and S/N matches the revolver (That's Good!). The extractor rod end is straight (Headless) and no little knob as on...

    Post War M&P 5 Inch (1946?)

Hey Ya'll! I'm digging out some stuff out of my collection to show off and get some comments. I'm trying to figure this camera thing out so I should be getting progressively better with the photo presentations. I will post better closeups shortly. I need some activities in the Western Michigan...

    Unfired Pre-war M&P " NEW PICS ENJOY"

That's really sharp! About 8 years ago, I had a gun show dealer tell me that M&P's will never be collectable, will never increase in value, be of any interest to true gun collectors. They (S&W) made million's of them and nobody wants an old police gun. Go Figure? We need some good closeup...

    Are 3" model 13s rare?

My Daily Driver Hey! Here is my regular "daily carry" 3 incher. I have had this for years. I believe it's a SC State Police surplus. It was in well used but little fired condition and I polished out most of the big scratches, fresh screws and updated the grips . I know I gave less than $300. I...

DC, Thanks for the great photos and explaination on the details of the "Humpback Hammer" I have a "long action" 5 inch, M&P from 1946 (S/N S 87816*) and I always thought it had a humpback hammer, Now I don't know.
