You shouldn't have to remove it - it should come "installed". No such thing as partially installed. Can you post pictures to clarify?

Hmm interesting, thanks for the info. I remember the thread on here about that specific gun. It was a thread about letter fill, the guy used some gold inlay kit, but then the thread went off the rails when people saw the pictures of it. You should be able to find it if you search.

Trigger bar loop stays underneath the sear the whole time, but the trigger doesn't "spring back" to the normal position. I put the factory spring back in and I have the same issues. My phone won't take a clear enough video to show the internals. Will S&W take a look at my gun under warranty even...

I tried both ways, happened each time. Sorry, my quote was not accurate. The spring is lighter than stock, which is why I don't know why it would be heavier. I'll double check assembly and hopefully I can figure it out. If not, I'll post another video.

Regarding the takedown lever retaining wire - what would happen if I didn't have it in? The guide rod keeps the takedown lever in place while the slide is on. I understand that the takedown lever will fall out (with the slide off) without the wire, but is that it? The reason I ask is because...

I have a follow-up question: Is there any harm in NOT putting this piece back in? I tried for a solid 20 minutes and just couldn't get it. Test fired the gun, about 50 rounds, and it didn't seem to be an issue.
