    Unusual Sandwiches and Snacks

When I was a little kid, my mother made these for me, and 70 years later, I'm still making them. Butter the bread (no sandwich is really a sandwich unless the bread starts out buttered), apply REAL peanut butter (like Jif), then mayonnaise, then fresh, crispy lettuce. Tastes great with a cold...

.22 lever guns: educate me a bit

I bought my first Marlin 39-A new in 1963 when I was stationed in Texas, and carried it all over the state for several years after rabbits, varmints, etc., and sold it locally before we headed back home in 1965. Got the itch for a 39-A again two years ago, and after a lot of looking, found a...

    Cz pistols?

I'm still waiting for mine - my FFL has had a CZ75 D PCR on order for me from his distributor for four months; they're "on allocation", and he can't get me a firm date.

    Moving to New House

I spent 3 years in the Army, then 38 years with GM and Chrysler; moved 14 times, designed and built 4 homes from scratch, including the last one, our retirement home, which we built when I retired in 2001. The only way we're leaving this one is in rubber bags. Congratulations! Enjoy...

    wish me luck.

I had a right lower inguinal hernia repaired (the old way, with an incision) about 1982 or so - everything worked out fine, but the first week you should pay attention to all the cautions mentioned earlier in this thread so you don't inadvertently aggravate the repair or the incision. There are...

Is anyone buying/using full size full weight semi-auto handguns

Only metal & wood guns here - I'm a traditionalist, and a large sign in my shop says, "NO UGLY GUNS".

    Henry .22 rifle

I have a Henry "Golden Boy", and I think it's an outstanding rifle - fit/finish/function and accuracy are first-rate. I also have a 1967 Marlin 39-A Mountie, so I'm familiar with leverguns. :)

A trio of PPKs and one /S

    I have a 2010-built (S&W) stainless .380 PPK/S, and it's one of my favorite handguns - terrific machining and fit/finish, accurate, and reliable. :)

    Whats your latest purchase? "guns/accessories"

Great choice! Do you know which distributor your FFL got it from? My FFL (also CZ dealer) sez they're on "allocation" and he can't give me a date other than "it's ordered - just have to wait until it shows up". :(

    Men's Fashions

February 27, 2001 was my birthday, and it was the day I retired at age 60; it was also the day I didn't get on the Gulfstream V to fly to and conduct a new plant construction review, and was the last day I ever cared one way or another how I was dressed (even though we quit wearing suits and...

Why does it seem like there are relatively few older people at the range?

I'm 78 and retired, and go to our heated and cooled indoor 14-lane range on weekdays, usually between 8-11 AM or 1-4 PM so folks who are still working have a shot at it; I don't even try on weekends - the place is packed, including the kids with AR's. I usually go for an hour or two, and...

    One more thing

We've been through them all over the last 30 years, but we made the right choice ten years ago and bought three Sleep Number beds - one for her, one for me, and one for guests. My wife has had lower back problems all her life and major invasive back surgery nine years ago. Back was fine for...

Two more .380s, two more fails

I like it - it's well-made and has never had a single malfunction of any kind; a little on the heavy side for its size (I like all-metal guns), but no more so than my PPK/S. I have a sign in my shop that says, "NO UGLY GUNS". :D

I want to get an old west replica pistol. Advice please

Cimarrons are made by Uberti - my Cimarron/Uberti Model "P" (5-1/2" barrel) is a joy to shoot in .45 Long Colt and always attracts an interested crowd at the range. :) For low-cost plinking, I also have a Hy Hunter SAA replica (made in Germany in 1962 by Sauer & Sohn) in .22LR - similar...

    GOT YOUR WOOD READY?

Friend of mine has a similar deal with his two kids - they gather and cut up the trees they find, then run the pieces through a hydraulic splitter, stack it, and sell it. Definitely work for the younger crowd! :)

Who else got a check for $200??

I have gotten an invitation to join different class-action lawsuits once or twice a year, usually against various computer chip and battery manufacturers for price-fixing. I always sign up, and I always wind up within a year or so with a check - usually between $60 - $300. About five years after...

    Hurricane Dorian

I did the same thing 18 years ago - installed my 18-KW automatic Generac three weeks before the (in)famous northeastern grid failure left everyone in this area (except us) without power for three days in early August, 2003. Timing is everything! ;)
