I had a hernia repair in November 2001. Regular incision plus the mesh. Everything was going well until New year's Eve. I was unloading horse feed from the back of the pick-up into the wheelbarrow when a sack slipped and I grabbed it. Bad move! Went to the doctor, who ordered an X-ray. Some of the mesh pulled loose, but not bad enough to undergo surgery again. That sucker hurt somewhat every day for at least ten years. I still get a twinge if I carry something that is too heavy.
I also had a small hernia next to my naval repaired at the same time. It hurts every now and then.
Remember, stay away from heavy loads and for goodness sake, DON'T TRY AND CATCH ANYTHING HEAVY THAT IS FALLING!!!
