    Looking at the chambers on a close up of a Model 19 I noticed a narrow opening from the thinnest edge of one chamber to the next. I know it is not a crack but what is it's purpose?

    I had a 19 in 1980s which would lock up if dry fired quickly. Was this normal? What might have been causing the lock up? .
