M&P FPC

The looks great on paper but I am going to try forcing myself to wait a while before I buy one. I had a Ruger PC carbine but sold it because I found it needlessly heavy, reliable enough for plinking but not home defense and I didn't like the sharp edges on the aluminum MLOK handguard the one I had.

The FPC is light enough but I want to see more reports about its reliability before I buy one. It seems like its harder to make a reliable blowback 9mm carbines than it is to make a reliable locked breech pistol.

Also, S&W often makes variants of the base gun. If they make one that has a stock with adjustable length of pull, a more more old school handguard that only has a top rail, or one that comes with iron sights those would all be pluses. But the only reason I am going to try to wait is reliability concerns.

The reaction on the internet seems to be a collective yawn. Most people that want a PPC must already have one. I hope S&W sells enough to offer some variants.

I just picked up an FPC from Sportsmans Warehouse.
Where can I get a hold of some more 23rd mags?
S&W really has a mess going on with their magazines. Can't get extended ones anywhere even though you know they exist, can't get the 2.0 compact spacers anywhere except one little store on Ebay (for an arm and leg).
Do I just email or pick up the phone to S&W or am I missing something?
One of the big reasons I got the FPC was mag compatibility with my M&P 2.0 compact. So I have a good few 15rders, and a couple 17rders, but the only 23s I have I just got with the FPC.

Reliability looks to be perfect watching all the videos. Haven’t seen one hiccup yet in over 8 video reviews. That said, none of the videos I’ve watched, do they address the guns recoil impulse. I’d like to know how it compares to the KelTek. The KelTek can be brutal when shooting it for prolonged sessions.

As a truck/home defense gun, I think it’s a winner. The range near me has one already, fit and finish is typical S&W. I’ve got a M&P FS 9, and have a good number of 17 rounders. Giver it six months and there will be plenty of upgrades and extended mags available IMHO.

I picked up my FPC last Friday. This weekend I put a few hundred rounds through it at the range—a hodgepodge of whatever 9mm I had kicking around that I needed to burn up. The FPC ate all of it without a single hiccup.

It's a sturdy little rifle that I suspect will make a lot of people happy. No, it's not going to take the place of my other rifles ... but I wouldn't hesitate to throw it in a backpack or under my truck seat or wherever else I think I may need a handy little rifle.

I ordered one it should have come in Friday,,did not make it.. So next week then. I have surgery Monday so it might sit for a week or so..

I picked one up one week ago. Went to the range, put a hundred rounds thru it an absolutely loved it! Five days later I bring a friend to the range to show it off and it wouldn't shoot . (Firing pin?) Sadly it is currently in route to S&W for repair.:(

I might be tempted in a 10mm version. Maybe, could be, don’t know for sure until I see one.

Not going to win a beauty contest. Really have no use for one other than it would be a 10.

Sorry to hear that. I like the FPC on paper but want to make sure they are reliable before I buy one.

There is a thread in the M&P pistol forum where someone else reported his FPC would not fire:

Any M&P FPC Shooters Out There??

In this case it looked like the firing pin spring and firing pin were not installed, I don't see how they could jump out of the bolt. But yours worked for the first 100 rounds so it is likely something different.

I'm very interested in the FPC; could become my wife's primary shooter. At 70-plus, she can no longer work the slide of ANY semi-auto pistol. She HATES not being able to shoot her Beretta 92; shooting her Ruger MKII is not as much fun as a centerfire.

I'm thinking she might really come to enjoy a lightweight carbine with red dot sight.

As a handloader I'd sure like to see some reloading & ballistic data on FPC performance. Much of an improvement over a 9mm handgun?

Those are 23 round M&P mags. But they are NOT the same type that come with the carbine. Look at the bottom of the mags

Not quite the same but they are OEM S&W mags and according to the details will work in the FPC. The included FPC mags also have the spacer sleeve included.

Very interested in this. Not sure if I would want to go with the 9 or wait to see if they will make a 45 as well. So far I am seeing positive reviews.
