Good News on Winchester M-22

Hey Guys, Santa delivered a nice 1000 round brick of M-22's this past weekend, so naturally I had to take them out to the range and try them out. I usually clean my rifle immediately after I am done shooting for the day. But with all the hustle of the holiday I simply put it off 'til later. Well I am planning on going out in the morning with some friends to shoot a couple thousand rounds. So I decided to break her down for a good cleaning and much to my surprise I found the bolt exceptionally clean for just having 1000 rounds ran through it Sunday. I hadn't planned on doing a review on the ammo since some others already have but WOW is this stuff clean and out of the whole brick I had ZERO FTF's or FTE's. And we really hammered down on a few mags emptying a hundred rounds or so as quickly as possible. I know to some the slightly higher price my be a deal breaker but to me its worth it. Anyone who has shot a more than a few hundred rounds of lower quality ammo through their 15-22 and then broke it down can tell you sometimes it gets really nasty in there but not with the M-22's there was no gunk whatsoever. There is a little residue but nothing like some of the messes I have cleaned up before. Way to go Winchester!

Very nice! I have gone through 1000 myself unfortunately my experience is not as good. My m-22 box produced too many feed failures to be worth the higher cost. I do agree though that it's the cleanest .22 ammo I've fired!
 
I have run about 1/2 of my first 1000 through my PC model. Everything ran really good at a speed steel match I was at, in fact I had the lowest score even below the open race guns and rimfire open pistols. But it was cold. Did have some issues later especially with my rimfire open pistol, so that gun will be going back to CCI-MM and Fed. 550 which both work fine in it. I will give the M-22 tenative approval until the main match shooting season starts in the spring. At least until I can test it more during warmer weather.
 
Anybody else having issues with this stuff. The comments above have peaked my interest.
 
I found M22 to be extremely smokey and have an unusually high number of fte and ftf as compared to good old Wally World Federal Bulk pack and CCI Tactical. I also ran accuracy test against the Federal and CCI and the Winchester was the worst. Everyone knows that different rifles can be sensitive to different ammo. My M&P 15-22 MOE just seems to like the Federal best and it is by far the cheapest.
 
All guns are a little different.

Mine only really likes CCI Minimags and the CCI Tactical. Its recently been feeding the Wally World cheapo Remington like a champ.

For some reason it just doesn't jive with the M-22. At least not from the cost difference, because I think its barely under the CCI Minimags (at least in my area), so it doesn't make sense to go with what FTE and FTFs on my gun.

Glad someone got through 5000 though :) Maybe I will try them again, my gun was very new when I tried the M-22s.
 
Maybe it's because I have over 10,000 rounds through mine. Or maybe is because I clean it religiously. But I have shot everything that I can possibly get my hands on including remington golden bullets, winchester hollow points cci blazers and even thunderbolts. And I have had no more than 10 FTFs or FTEs. Or maybe I just got lucky. I just hope that I don't have to eat these words on my next trip to the range.
 
Its possible mine was not fully worn in yet. The first 375 I put through it were CCI Tactical, all with no issues. The next 1000 were the M-22.
 
Federal bulk pack works well enough,I tried some Augula,60 gr sub-sonic, no problems. Need to shoot some Zingers or thunderbolts.

I have udually been using CCi Copper plated Minimags.
I came across these and notices they were "black copper plated" and have been getting best results using Copper plated stuff. They didn't have any other bul avail today so I grabbed these hope to get out and shoot them soon will Report backZ
 
Don't ask me why I counted, but I got (3) extra Bullets I each 500 box.

I usually break bulk boxes down into the CCi 100 sleeves for easy loading of 10rnds and for easy handling. And fast counting.

*going to shoot them tonight.
 
Ok so I haven't cleaned my gun in 300+ rounds but I'm still going to Blame this on the ammo. I finally experience a few malfunctions w this rifle and have Never yet since I've owned it.

The load was also inconsistent as I would get a
Pop, pop , pop , Pooffff, Pop , Pop , Pooffff FTF and so on.

Accuracy however wasn't that bad I shot standing 30 rounds through an inch hole at 50yrds w a few flyers and one or two adjusting zero. I'll get pic up lAter of target.

I'm still goin to have to Stick w CCi Mini-mags as her favorite meal.
