This is my first post here since I just ordered my A1 Style M&P 15-22 yesterday. I had been debating getting one for a while and had been browsing the forum and finally decided to join. Now down to the reason for posting.

I know there are many optics threads, but I have narrowed my choices down and was hoping for some feedback from those who have or have had these.

Tru Glo Red Dot

And I know I'm going to catch some grief over these two

Welcome Chill and congrats on the purchase.

Since you've provided a short list I would say the Sightmark, but don't have personal experience with the others.

Buy some extra mags and lot of ammo before you get the red dot - the sights work well enough.

Of those four options, I would rate the Sight Mark and Tru Glo to be about equal. I would stay away from the airsoft sights. I learned the hard way, bought a C-More clone from hong kong. Worked really well at first, then in the middle of a steel challenge match the glass shifted and threw my zero out the window. I'm planning on fixing it to use as an emergency backup.

I ended up buying a Vortex Strikefire and havn't looked back. You get a heck of a lot of red dot for the money. And if you look around, sometimes you can find them for about $130.

This. Vortex and Primary Arms for the budget optics win.

Among the ones you listed, the Trueglow tube type would be a good choice IMO. You would need to buy a riser.

Otherwise... check out Primary Arms' selection of red dot optics. For around $100 you'll get something designed for your style rifle with riser.

EDIT: I just noticed that just about everything on the PA red dot page is out of stock. ??

ya i thought about eventually upgrading if ever i have problems with my utg but with the lack of supply, im not really in a rush right now.

+1 on the strikefire from vortex. It's red/green dot, something like 7 different brightness settings, comes with perfect co-witness mounts like stated above, has night vision mode for use with a night scope, and comes with a screw-on 2x magnifier. Switch mine between my m&p15 and 15-22, even holds zero within about an inch at 50 yds. Can't beat it for the price. Sorry I didn't help from your choices though.

Just put a Vortex Sparc on mine...so far I like it. Tried one of our C-mores on it and it worked good but looked goofy...in my opinion.

Thanks for all the recommendations. There are so many choices in optics I'm not exactly sure what I want. I've thrown the choice of the Eotech clones out because of all the mixed reviews and because I can get a quality built name brand for about the same price. I think I'm hooked on the Sightmark mainly because of price and good reviews, but will probably wait until I put a few hundred rounds through it with the iron sights before I upgrade. I've been browsing for threads about different optics and it's kind of a hard decision.

Don't get me wrong, I guess we all have our opinions on what makes a good sight, but I don't see throwing out as much cash on a scope as what I paid for the firearm. Just anxious to get it in and get it broke in. ;)

Have you considered a low power variable with lighted reticle such as the Millet DMS 1-4? They can be found for just over $200.00 on sale.

I've used that style of red dot. One factory in China makes them to different specs of the customers. I've had a BSA that eventually failed on me, and then I got a Sightmark branded one that is still working. The only diffence I can see between the two is the Sightmark had a different locking screw for locking in after zeroing.

But for the price if you get six months or more I wouldn't complain at all, just consider it an introduction to red dots.

I know it was not one of my original choices, but I just purchased the NcStar Red Dot Reflex Sight on Amazon. I had seen where a couple members had them or the other brands like this sight and I liked the look and how they cowitness well. For the price it was worth it.

I'm considering one of those (maybe the Sightmark version) for my Browning Buck Mark. I'd buy a better sight, but want one with multiple reticules, and need it to be as small as possible (tube sights like my Primary Arms M3 won't cut it here). Can anyone recommend a better quality (but well under $200 sight with multiple reticules and small size?

Let me say clearly up front I don't know all that much about scopes. However, the two scopes that I'm currently considering are the StrikeFire or the ITAC-SCOPE-CP1. With the latter of the two, I believe, addressing your question.

I would be interested to know if anyone has an opinion of these two scopes and which one, if any, is the better of the two.

Thanks.

I am very pleased with the Bushnell TRS25 red dot. I have used it on my M&P15 for quite some time now and love it and will be using one on my M&P15-22 on its way also just so no matter which one i am using i will be acustomed to it. I am really impressed with it.
