I've read several places that the Magpul BAD lever can't be installed on our rifles without trimming some plastic @ the trigger guard area, or actually physically bending the BAD in a strategic location which sometimes takes 2-3 tries to get it right.
I've also read that the weight of the BAD lever itself can have an adverse effect on the rifle by screwing up the bolt latch catch, by allowing the bolt to slam shut after the last round even when using S&W magazines. And I really like the "Last Round Hold Open" feature, that's why I use S&W magazines.
Welp, I had a BAD ordered from Cabela's and then ran across this forum, cancelled the BAD and got NDZ's "SBR" instead.
I've popped about 500-600 rounds of various ammo since the installation and haven't had a malfunction of the bolt catch release yet.
I've used 8 different S&W 25rd magazines and all's well, sofar.
Which do you guys prefer?
BAD or SBR????

I don't have either, but if I was going to pick one it would be the "SBR". Since it's made for the 15-22, and other users have had very positive reports using it.

The receiver of the 15-22 is a little different in size I believe. The BAD lever doesn't work perfectly. Go with the SBR

I have the Bad lever on my Ruger AR and my 15-22. I did have to bend it some to work properly for the 15-22. I have had no problems on either gun.

SBR installation without issues for M&P15-22? I am going to buy one (Psycho Hatchet engraved!), but just heard that some people cut spring or slashed external parts to work well.

Just bought the SBR for my 15-22.

Does the Bolt Catch Spring have to be cut for the SBR to operate properly?

It is not necessary to slash any internal parts. I have no idea where that comes from. It IS necessary, on some rifles, to cut two turns off the bolt latch spring. This is a well know solution to the problem of the bolt sometimes not latching back on an empty magazine. This is a three minute mod.

Depends ... some have found it necessary, and some haven't. It's been done on all three of my 15-22 and takes about three minutes to do. The 15-22 has a history of the bolt not always locking back after the last round. This is caused by a too-strong bolt latch spring. This mod has been the solution to the problem for at least the last three years, whether an SBR is installed or not.

^^THIS. Cutting the spring won't hurt anything, but it will only improve operation.

I didn't tamper with my rifle other than installing the SBR. (Other than adding the oversized mag release button and upgraded charging handle).

So far, runs perfect!

I think the spring problem had to do with the weight of the original SBR.

My rifle (MOE) is only a couple of months old, too.

That was a problem, but as the one who did a major portion of the beta testing on the second generation SBR, cutting the spring was necessary on all three of my 15-22s for that one, as well to ensure 100 percent performance.

It's really not a big deal, folks. It takes all of three minutes ... if you are slow. :)

Agreed, I wanted to go ahead and cut the spring if need be while I waited for the SBR to come in rather than after a trip to the range where I find out it needs to be cut.

Just askin--

BTW -- Ordered at 10:32pm last night, received notification that it was shipping at 6:40am this morning. That's service!

Anything to take up of the side to side movement on the NDZ speed bolt release?

I have the Magpul B.A.D on my 15-22LR haven't had any problems since having it installed a month ago.
