I am thinking about a Bushnell TRS 25 for my rifle. Does anyone know if I need a riser to go along with the scope?

Do you want to use the iron sites as well? You will need 7/8 or 1" . Don't know what it's comes with. Do you have Moe buis sites

I have the MOE flip up front and rear sights.

Thanks for the tip on Primary Arms. I have done a search and there appears to be no real difference between Primary and Bushnell except the price. Looking at the Primary Arms web page, it does not say what height the riser is, i.e., .83 or one inch. Also, I admit that I do not have a good handle and the advantages/disadvantages of absolute co-witness and 1/3 co- witness. Could some one please educate me a bit on this.

Thanks.

Kind of found the answer to my own question. At "CoWitness Explained - by Dimitri With Primary Arms", I found an excellent explanation as to the advantages and disadvantages of both systems. End of day, it seems to come down to personal preference. I am inclined to go with a .83 riser for absolute co-witnessing. This may mean that I have to use the TRS 25, as the Primary Arms mount appears to be a higher mount with a 1/3 witness.

I was going to post the video with Dimitri explaining co-witnessing, but it sounds like you already found it.

I prefer lower 1/3rd myself. Only because some of my rifles have fixed sights and lower third works better. I try to keep them all the same.

If you have folding sights on all your rifles, or you don't care about keeping things consistent from rifle to rifle, absolute co-witness is perfect.

Beware of the new sale on Primary Arms MicroDot with riser for $59. The emitter is at 6 o'clock and will cover most all of your front sight post when using irons. The Primary Arms version used to be like that a couple years ago. Complaints resulted in Primary Arms instructing the factory to relocate the emitter to 4 o'clock.

Cabelas has the TRS-25 w/riser for $79 today.

I run one on my Yugo O-PAP on an Ultimak rail. No riser needed for that though. Runs like a champ.

Oh, and first post...Hello!

Thanks for all the input. I ordered the TRS 25 and
.83 riser from Amazon for a total of $80, free shipping and no tax. Thanks again for everyone's help.

The only real difference between the PA MicroDot and the TRS-25 is the led/dot placement. PA dot is at 6 o'clock, TRS-25 is at 3 o'clock.

Won't really matter in an AR setup though.
