Does anyone know of anybody trying the old ASP Guttersnipe sight system on the M&P compacts?

No, but have you ever shot a Guttersnipe-equipped pistol? I worked in a gun store and sold an original ASP to a friend in the late '80s; got to shoot it a lot. The Guttersnipe is really not the greatest idea . . . very difficult to shoot accurately. There's a reason that it was an evolutionary dead end. I think the silly giant ghost ring rear/big dot front works better . . . and red dots are the wave of the future.

No I haven't. The thing is I want a defensed pistol to replace my S&W model 37.

Like Erich said, there's a reason you don't see it on anything but ASPs. Apparently, it's one of those ideas that looked great on paper but didn't work out as well in the real world. There's a lot of material written on it out there if you do a search.

That's the problem I'm found mix reviews.

I had two ASPs. I wish I had kept one just for novelty of the thing.

The Guttersnipe sight was designed for close combat (10 yards max, according to Kevin Parsons), and it excels at that; better than most current "systems".

But you can forget any kind of real precision past that distance. For that, and one other, reason, its not a good idea for most folks.

The other reason is that it must be PRECISELY mounted/zeroed to the specific pistol.

OP, if you're looking for something out of the ordinary, check out those trapezoidal/pyramid sights; sorry, I forget the brand name.

True the ASP's guttersnipe sights was set up for point shooting and not so much for sight shooting. ASP's would be a snag-free sights. I was looking for is a set of snag-free sights that could be used for both style of shooting.
