Looking at both of these guns. Need help deciding. I know more about the ruger and have shot them a number of times. the MP not so much since the crazy inventory problems at all of my LGS's.

I am looking for pro's and con's. They both fit my hand well, and I know that the SR9c ruger is a reliable gun. But for some reason the SW seems like it could be concealed easier. Anyway, looking for comments. I don't know of any issues with the MP so if there are any please let me know.

I have the Ruger. And in my opinion does print a lot. I stopped carrying that at all. I now carry a shield 40.

The ruger has too many safeties imo. MAg safety, thumb safety and a protruding chamber indicator

It's hard to say what is going to print more.
A lot depends on what you are wearing and the type and fit of your holster.
I do enjoy my M&Ps (M&P 9 and M&P 40c). The 40c in my EDC. I carry with an Ozarks IWB tuckable Holster at 3:30. I have worn it with just shorts, belt and a very light weight (slightly snug) poly sport shirt. Not even my wife noticed.

I own both and prefer to shoot the Ruger. To me it came down to the trigger.

I have good holsters and extended mags for both and carry both. IIRC the Ruger may be slimmer, but not by much.

Shoot if you can and choose the one a) you will practice with and b) can carry comfortable.

I have the Ruger, and its my cold weather carry gun. I have a shield for warm weather. One up side to the Ruger ( besides a sweet trigger) is that magazines are a lot easier to find.

Get the M&P. Don't know much about the SR series Ruger but I am not impressed. They're butt ugly. Not that it counts for much but I was always turned off by them.

The M&P will probably fit your hand better and you will find more holsters available for it at present time.

any issues with the M&P model?

All the specs on the web site say its smaller, and lighter than the sR9c

I have an SR40C and an M&P9C - pretty close to what you're looking at. Both are fine pistols and I think it will boil down to a few personal preferences on your part. From a shooting, available accessories, and customer support standpoint, I don't see any real differences. Just some general comments. The Ruger was less expensive, is available in stainless, or black, and has a very good trigger. It also has too many safeties, frame, trigger, loaded indicator, magazine disconnect. The S&W has 3 different palm swells and feels good in the hand, is ubber reliable (at least for me), and can be ordered with, or without a frame safety or a magazine disconnect. The loaded chamber view port is minimalistic. For my personal use the SR is my HD pistol and my M&P is in my carry rotation, although I actually prefer single-stacks in that role. The Ruger is slightly more accurate for me, probably because of its trigger. Good luck deciding, or just get both ;) .

If you'd have asked a couple years ago, I'd suggest the SR9c, due to having a nicer trigger. Never cared for buying a pistol that I'd immediately need to change the trigger to make it as good as a different Brand/Model. Both concealed equally well and drew well (for me).

Now that S&W is incorporating the Shield trigger into the rest of the M&P line, it'd be a close call. I'd need to shoot both again, side-by-side to see which I liked shooting more (along with other factors)

If needing to find spare mags is high on the list of priorities, take a look at the complaint threads here pertaining to M&P mag scarcity. You'd be in for a wait, so be forewarned. ;)

I have a 9c with the current trigger (April 2013 production). It still needed a lot of work when I got it. It's much better after I polished the striker block and shot it a lot. But it's still not as nice as the SR trigger. Having said that, I love the 9c! It is a beautiful and well designed piece.

I don't have any experience with the Ruger SR9C but I do have a new M&P 9c and a Shield 9. I have never handled an older 9c but the newer production has a very nice trigger. If the trigger is a factor to you I actually prefer the trigger on my 9c over the trigger on my Shield. Try to shoot both or at least dry fire both if you can.
