Anyone know what the details are on this?

"The past few handgun classes I've taught I've seen a quality issue with Smith an Wesson M&P handguns. This is the 3rd gun in 9mm I've seen shotgun the target at 7 yards. Barrels are breaking apart at the crown an numerous malfunctions. No mods were done to the weapons an all 3 were newer weapons with less than 500 through them, so keep a watchful eye.
Ammo was a combination of Fed, CCI, and PMC."

First I've heard of this, I did notice that the guy can't spell "and". I'd need more specifics to form an opinion. It certainly hasn't matched my experience with M and P's

Wonder why theres no photos of these supposed broken barrels . Is it just a brand X ranter .

Nothing with mine so far, (going on seven years). The only accuracy issues are with the guy behind the trigger.

I raise the BS flag on this one. Mine are perfect. I may put a Barsto barrel in my CORE just to be a snobby bobby.

I really wish they had posted pics of the damage so everyone would know not just what they are talking about but also where to check on recent purchases just in case a bad lot went out.

Sounds like somebody's contract is coming up for renegotiation! ;)

NC

Boom.

That's the problem with people that endorse stuff. No matter how honest they may be... money makes people suspicious.

Still, there may be a batch. We'll either hear about more or we won't.

I'm not sure what's being pointed out...what appears to be the key-hole'ing marks?

If so, compared to the 'normal' looking holes, the key-hole hits don't look like the right size (scale) or shape to be bullet holes. Some don't even appear to have penetrated the paper. Any 9mm at that range is still zooming even if it was leading with its broadside.

I've seen 5.56 RDs yaw that bad...of course theyd go through the target.

I've been up for over 24 hrs, so maybe I'm missing the obvious.

That has got to be a punk'ed post.

Until I see pictures of the barrels, I call bull****. Even from Godcosta himself.

-edit-

I'm going to elaborate on why.

There is no way you can maintain that accuracy at 21 feet/ 7 yards, when your crown/barrel is coming apart.

Impossible.

Chris Costa, u mean the guy who used to run nothing but m&p and has praised them for all these years. Yet now, he rides with Glock and now he has nothing good to say about m&p.......Oh yeah that tard.

IMO, he's doing exactly what he should be doing. Talking down on the competitors to try and reel in some more sales for the team he's on.

The best part is his claims about the m&p. Yet he shoots a Glock and we all know the facts about those KABOOMS. The stories of those things going Kaboom are not made up by some fanboy either.

Costa is about like Yeager........No one has respect this guy anymore.

Don't raise the BS flag quite yet. I can attest first hand that I had a problem. I purchase a 9mm pro when they first came out. at 7 yards it would not stay inside the A box. At 15 it was off the target. All ammo was tried and initial observations were that the problem increased as the bullet weight went up. With the duty round of 147gr HST it was the worst. Short version, and this is supported by several well written arguments on the net, that it was a combination of barrel twist rate being wrong and dwell time being incorrect. So it went back. The barrel was replaced, a stronger RSA was put in and returned. I went outside stepped up to the 15yrd line and dumped a full mag on target. 5 rounds were peppered all over the target. It went back. When it came back we could not tell what was different, other than the rear of the slide had several marks where it had been struck with a hammer. Short version is the rep I dealt with made good on the gun and I washed my hands of it with the money back in my pocket. I am not here to slam the company, however its clear to me that with the civilian guns there is a problem. Recently I had a chance to test a blue label side M&P 9mm. While accuracy was not what I felt was where it should be it was entirely acceptable for law enforcement. I will say however the accuracy problems with bullet weight and point of impact variations were there but not to the degree as before. While it needs further review and testing it would not be out of the relm of possibility that the Costa post has some merit. Just my opinion and experience.

Yea well it general BS and lack of any photos that make a person wonder about this . he treats firearms as if there **** to begin with. I sure I know how the shrapnel look came about tacticool misfit.

I think I know how this spray job came about. Watch a couple of his videos showing this fool grinding his pistol into the gravel upside down to rack it one handed and then wonder where the barrel damage came from and shrapnel look on the targets came from gravel in the barrels or laying down sideways and a student firing a round early that hits the ground at a shallow close to the ground angle and gravel sprays the target. Run a class thru a station like that and a targets not going to look like a controlled pattern, more like what it is .

Costa and yeager would make a hell of a team together.

He to good for any ole glock too. There those mucked up looking SALIENT ARMS glocks

ATEI built some M&Ps for Costa in limited numbers last year. When they went on sale they were instantly sold out.
