M&P 9 vs Glock 19

I'm not a real fan of any brand. I do have two Glocks though... A Gen2 G19 and a Gen4 G26. I like them both. I carried the G19 for 20Yrs.
For me, they 'point' perfectly. As to them being squared off (blockish)... Nothing that a Hogue Slip on can't cheaply fix.

My Wife was turned off to Glock for CC, due to a True Glock Fanboy instructor. Even though she could shoot my G19 better, she went through an XD-Service, an SR9c and a KT PF-9, before finally trying a G26 and immediately fell in love with it. She even prefers it without any grip sleeves. If it weren't for that one Fanboy instructor, she could have saved herself a (cumulative) Grand and gotten the G26 a couple years sooner.

While she does like my Shield and can shoot it very well, she doesn't like it as much as her G26.

Oh yeah... In her search for her CC pistol, she did try the M&Pc and hated it. Hated how it felt in her hand, hated the trigger, hated how it shot.

Hello all
I had an gen 3 g 19 and it was an good gun.
I switched for all M&P FS 40 and got an lone wolf 9mm barrel. The M&P feels better in my hand.
I won't say it's better than the glock.
Get what you like best.

Glock has been made in Georgia for about a decade now.

Every Glock I've ever seen says " Made In Austria" on it.

At this point it's moot I have an M&P9 and I'm happy with it

Yea I'm just saying.

All gen 4 and current production (not all glocks are gen4) are US made along with about 1/2 of gen3

removed possibly offensive video because I don't want an ex post facto ban for something that was OK a year ago but isn't now

I used to own a G17 gen3. I loved the simplicity. After a half hour video, I had it to pieces, and back again. If I closed my eyes, picked it up and pointed it, then opened my eyes, it was lined up perfectly. The only problem was that with that perfect grip, I couldn't properly reach the trigger. And I don't have small hands. By the time I shifted my grip to reach the trigger, it was no longer perfectly aligned. And my groups showed it.

The M&P feels much better in the hand, but doesn't aim as naturally. I still shoot it better than the g17. Maybe one day I'll try to get a gen 4, but with the prices as they are in MA ( $800+ for a new one ), I'll have to get very lucky before trying one.

I actually like the looks of the glock. If I could get a gen4 for $500 or so, I'd probably pick one up. Just for the simplicity and ability to replace any part of it with minimal tools.

This is why I went with the G19 over the G17. The G19 fit my hand perfectly, the distance to the trigger was perfect (for me) and no need to shift my grip. Forget the Gen4 G17... Try a G19.

I guess, as Smoke alluded to, the G19 is the DUFF of pistols. :D

Hmmm, I always thought the grip on the g19 was the same as the grip on the g17., except for length. I was having a problem with width.

I think you're right, though. The g19 just looks much better as well ( duff as it is :) )

The GLOCK 19 is the fat girl of guns

That's actually pretty funny considering that Sigs are fatter, so are CZs

G19 is 1.18 thick
Sig 228 is 1.5 thick
CZ 75 is 1.38 thick
Beretta 92 1.5 thick
S&W M&P 1.18 thick (like Glock)
Springfield XD 1.8 thick
Walther PPQ 1.30 thick
HK P2000 1.38
HK USP 1.5
S&W 910 1.26
S&W 3913 1.14. Barely thinner than the G19

Seems like if one mills a few fancy lines everyone will assume it's thinner

I prefer Glock over the M&P series. I shoot them well and the simplicity and durability is quite nice. There is nothing wrong with the M&P line. Everyone's hand is different. I'm glad that Smith offers such a wide variety of firearms. I own more guns from Smith than from Glock. My 642 is probably my most carried firearm. It serves as primary in the heat of summer or as backup to my Glock or Springfield in the cooler months.

Oh and BTW, both my Gen4 Glocks (including my G19 made less than 6 months ago) are marked from Austria. To my knowledge, the only model made *exclusively* in America seems to be the G42. It is too small for import.

That's pretty much why there hasn't been any .380s, or single-stack Glocks on the U.S. market 'til now... The BATF (75 minimum) 'Import Points' requirement.

All guns should be GLOCKS

All GLOCKS should be 9mm

All 9mm GLOCKS should be 19s

An endorsement from a ranting nutcase (James Yeager) who got his permit to carry suspended.

(I'm not saying it's a bad gun.)

I didn't mean exclusively. Just that there are models made in the US.

Your hand and eye are not my hand an eye. Each is different and each will feel more comfortable with a different gun. I had never owned or even shot a Glock before until recently. I owned a Ruger SR9c and thought I shot it well... and loved it... and defended it against those I termed "glock fan boys". Until that is I shot one. And then I bought one. And this past Friday I sold my Ruger SR9c. The Glock 19 just fit my hand better and I shot it many times better than the Ruger. I shoot it several times better than my M&P Shield too but that one is not going anywhere because it carries beautifully. Unless and until I find something that carries as well AND shoots better the shield is a keeper. The point is however, one gun is not inherently better than another. What works great for me may be a *** for you. It's a very, very personal choice. Maybe one of the most important personal choices you make because your life may depend on it some day.

The grip width is the same. Only the length differs. Double check the website but i an 99% sure

Reliability, LEOs use it. That's about it.

Plenty of agencies have dumped the glock for something else. At the very least turned in a caliber that was given them heavy problems for a different one.

The only full size M&P I have fired is the M&P22. I owned a Shield once too. Held quite a few full size M&P's. They all felt great. Light years better than Glocks.

If I was looking for a striker fired weapon, I'd take an M&P over a glock. When it came time to choose a new plastic gun, I chose the Ruger SR9. Gun feels great in my hand. Has a safety, a mag disconnect, and a loaded chamber indicator. If I could have gotten a full size M&P with all those features I probably would have gotten it, but I gotta admit I am laser accurate with that SR9.

That's not correct. I bought a new G19 Gen4 with a 1/15 test fire date and it's made in Austria. If you look at Davidson's (for example) online inventory, you'll find many Gen4s are still coming from Austria, as well as Gen3s. Many retailers give you a choice as to source country when purchasing (assuming they have stock).
