Sticky vs remora

My search function is not working...

Little back story.. After getting my shield my next quest was the correct holster... I got an alien gear cloak tuck 3.0. Nothing wrong with holster it is a great holster... Not so sure it's for me.I think i want something a little less bulky...

I recently saw an add for sticky Holsters and started researching the clipless style holster. After I bought my gf a crimson trace lase that came with the little pocket holster I am very excited to try out a clipless holster (I tried hers with the shield and loved how it rode my belt line and love how easy it is to remove or adjust)

My gun is a shield .40 s&w wig a crimson trace laserguard. Does anyone have a sizing suggestion I have only seen the sticky md2 might work but could be a little tight... Anyone have experience?

In Leaning more towards the sticky but this thread is also for people to comment on sticky vs renora...

A vote for the Remora. I carry a .45 Auto in one in the appendix or 4 o'clock position. It stays where you put it.

Mine is the re-enforced top version and it works very well.

You tell Remora what you want and they build it to fit.
 
I have a Remora that I am very happy with. The wait was a little long, but for the quality and the price it was worth it. They routinely run specials and deals, so no reason to pay full price.
 
I discovered Sticky holsters about a year ago and now have several. They are great holsters that stay where they're put and are a great value. I also have a Remora & I prefer the Sticky.
 
Had great luck with Sticky Holsters. It's a small outfit out of Naples,FL and the owner responds to questions and problems. He custom sewed one for my Shield and sent it to me when I had an issue with one off the shelf.
 
I have a Remora for my Shield 9, 640 Pro that also works for my 642, Ruger LCP, and my Beretta Bobcat & Tomcat. For the Ruger and the Beretta's I usually pocket carry them since the Remora's work both ways.
 
The guys that do Remora brand and 'Sticky' brand used to be partners that started Remora. When they decided to split, that's when 'Sticky' brand came on the market. They're pretty much the same and are both very well made (and pretty much like the DeSantis Nemesis & Superfly, which can also be used IWB rather than just as pocket holsters).

If the site doesn't specifically state which size would be right for yours, email them and they'll help you out.

The main difference I've found between IWB Clip holsters and Clip-less holsters, is that with a Clip IWB holster, one usually needs to go up 1 waiste size, whereas with Clip-less IWB holsters, the more snug the pants are, the better they stay in place.

I have a Remora (they constantly run 30%-50% sales) and like that I can use it for either Pocket Carry or IWB.

The only experience I have with Remora is their mag holder. Its the same material as their holster and I found it requires a wee bit, a very small wee bit of room than a Sticky. The Sticky seems more smooth but is "sticky".
Sticky makes a Travel Mount (still requires any of their holsters) and I have two of those. (sticky on one side and velcro other) I have one attached to the end table next to my recliner and the other attached to the base board of my bed.
They show them mounted in cars and such.
Sticky lists pistol fit on their web site. Some fit several pistols.
 
+1 Remora. I have 5 different Remora holsters for various carry guns. Two for the Shield alone. A very simple one. The other one has a belt clip,magazine holder attached, and sized to fit a laser trigger guard. My favorite by the way. I like the Remora brand because of all the options they offer. There is sizing options when ordering for lasers and lights. So you will get a properly fit holster for your gun.

Remora holsters are simple and work well. I've never tried the Sticky holster but have looked at it and it looks like it should work equally well.
 
I have a Sticky for my Shield, I'm pleased with it. Also have a Remora for my SP-101, haven't carried the SP yet so I can't say how well it works but I suspect it will be fine. I bought the Sticky from Amazon and the Remora from their website, found the Remora on sale with a free mag pouch.
There is a video on YouTube comparing the 2.

I have a Remora with full sweat shield for each of my guns. They provide good protection whether a gun is in my bedside drawer, range bag, or center console. I've always gotten a free mag holder when I've ordered one. I mainly use them for keeping extra mags from banging around in the side compartments of my range bag.

I carry the Shield in appendix position with a clip-less Remora. Stays where I put it. If I carry an extra mag I put it in a mag holder in my weak-side front pocket. I never tried it inside the waistband so I don't know if it stays put or not.
 
No experience with Sticky holsters. I have about a half dozen Remoras for various guns. They are without a doubt my favorite holster for my Shield.

Great customer service, although as someone mentioned, it'll probably take a couple of weeks for it to arrive.
 
I have a Remora with sweat guard that I ordered for my Shield W/trigger guard laser. It's nicely made and stays in place, but it's a little tight on my gun. Doing dry fire draw practice, I've pulled the entire unit (gun and holster) from my waistband (I carry appendix) several times and it doesn't seem like it's going to stretch out. I can't trust it for carry for that reason. On the plus side , it fits my 9c perfectly and draws correctly every time, so I do use it for AIWB carry for that gun. Very comfortable and it stays in place.
 
Not having a clip irks me when I have to go through extra steps in handling the piece when I use the restroom.
I have a couple remoras that I do not use, they always shift, and I wear my pants on the snug side as it is. But mostly the bathroom routine was enough to drop the idea. I'll take a sturdy reliable clip than rely on friction that introduces extra handling necessities.
 
I use a "Sticky" to pocket carry an LCP. My wife and daughter do as well. As closely related as Sticky and Remora are I believe coin flipping is in order.
 
I have both and can say that both work well. For pocket carry I'd say go for whatever one is less expensive. For IWB carry I prefer Remora because it seems to me that it stays in place better than Sticky.

I have several Remora's and like them all. The one I use for my Shield (no laser) is a leather lined, full sweat shield that I wear at 4. Works great, never moves. Call the company and get the exact size and additions you want. Better this way than ordering off their site. Also if there is a fit problem they will make it right. I have been using them since the owner of the company answered every phone call!
 
I have a Remora for my J-Frame for the pocket mostly it's OK. I had a Remora for my old Boberg and now use it for my 9 Shield with GREEN Laserguard. It works in my pocket OK but is not designed for the Laserguard. I settled on a BladeTech and exchanged the plastic clip for a Utiliclip. I am happy with this arrangement. But, I would like to have a belt rig also. Desantis so far does not make one for the CTC Green Laserguard. I'm not in love with a clipless arrangement but it can be an option at times.
