A guy close to me is selling a barely used (less than 200 rounds) M&P 9c for $350 with original box and the two original magazines. Should I jump on this firearm for that price or nah? I own two other M&Ps and love them both, but haven't had a chance to handle or fire the 9c. What say you?

I've had a M&P 9c for about a year now with a crimson laser on it, I have nothing bad to say about it. I also just picked up a M&P Shield 9 Performance Center and I like that much better, I get tighter groups and it's easier to carry. That being said S&W is having a rebate for the next 2 months on Shields, you can pick one up for $245 after rebate from PSA Smith & Wesson MP Shield 9mm

Good Luck
Steve

I've had my 9c for about two years and 1000 rounds. It's been flawless.
I wouldn't jump at $350 but I would at $300 if I wanted another one.

Not a bad price but you can find new ones for $400. Of course in the private sale you won't have fees and taxes to pay.

At $350 it is on the high side. I'm sure he paid closer to $450 but that was then, this is now. I'd offer $275 and otherwise go for a Shield on Rebate.

I had a 9c for a couple years, over 1500 trouble-free rounds thru it. Problem was i did not care for shooting it with its stock mags/grip. Much preferred using full size mags in it, and at that point decided to just get a full size MP.
Also picked up a Shield (PC) which while smaller than the compact it is a real joy to shoot and fits better.

I'd have to say, the compact was a solid gun just not meant for me. Being in-between the Shield and the Full size models didn't make it "just right" but rather "average".

Only my .02 of course

Do you want a carry gun that holds 13 rounds with one in the chamber? And are willing to carry the weight and size that goes with this gun? Or like most a shield is less money and less rounds.

I have had a 9c for eight years, it is my carry gun. And have shot about 8000 rounds thru the gun and its been excellent. I do need to send it in for the first time the recoil spring, trigger bar and firing pin are all showing wear.

For $350 I would pass. But the S&W M&P 9c is a nice firearm.

It's a buyer's market now, you have lots of leverage for at least a few months, so it's up to you once you decide which model you want. You'll get lots of good advice from members here about that.

The 9c has been my EDC for 2 years. It's 12 rounds vs the 7 that I had in the xds-9 I previously carried was my reason for trying it. I love it! Easy to carry, easy to shoot and I'm as accurate with it as any of my full size pistols.

I just got one from my daughter. Its my first ever handgun. I can't speak to the price because I traded an M-1 with 5 mags and 200 rounds of ammo for it. :D

I've carried a 9C for a few years, didn't like shooting a Shield (don't flame me, I have big hands and Shield got lost). Even the compact feels small compared to my competition gun

I have a 9c as well. One of my carry guns. Have used it effectively in IDPA. To me it's a sleeper- quality gun at good price- retail. Agree with others, $350 might be a tad high for my tastes, but is not unreasonable. Counter w/ $300 and see where it goes.

Good luck!

I've had my 9C for a little over a year now, I rotate it as my EDC with my shield 9.
I shoot the 9C much more accurately than I do the shield (pretty big hands), but if
the shield fits your hand, with the MagGuts+2 kits (which I have several of) you can carry
a shield as a 10+1 with barely a 1/4" of extended length on the 8 round mags.
I don't really notice the extra weight or width of the 9C IWB or OWB
(stealth gear Mini and Flex with a Bigfoot belt).
I'd go to a range that rents both and shoot them back to back and see what tickles
your fancy more.
The deals on the shields right now are crazy good (if that gun will work for you).
on the forums I frequent I am actually seeing these go regularly for between $350-400.
these aren't shields, the used shields go for real cheap, the 9C's .....not so much,
you may be able to find a sweet deal out there (I did last year $350 , brand new fully
stippled trigger guard undercut and 5 mags(one full size with the sleeve) , but that is the best deal I've seen
on one so far.
I see the 40C go for closer to $300 more often than I do the 9C.
I love mine, if it was just a tad lighter , I don't think I'd even carry my shield at all.

$350 too much for a 9c? Wow, the worm has turned on these. Here an M&P 9C would sell for $600 or more, but we have a unique situation.

I don't think $350 is bad, but with the current rebate, you can probably get a new one for that. Then again, only 200 rounds means this gun is new. Offer him $325 and see what he says.

My 9c has been trouble free for 4 years now. Good thing about it if you want to shoot it in IDPA ccp division and you have a full size M&P , you can put the full size slide on the compact frame.

No, this won't work on the 9mm or 40S&W M&P guns. If you put a full size slide on a compact frame, the dust cover will have a gap. The gun might work in this configuration, but I don't recommend it.

There is a gap at the front but it doesn't affect the operation at all. I've run at least 500 rounds through it like that and there is no damage. The front of the frame has no support for the slide, it just cleans up the look of the gun.
