Which EoTech & help with full or 1/3 witness
OK to start sorry about all the noob questions, just trying to learn as much as i can.
So i decided to by a EoTech but now just need help deciding which one & a little clarification.
1. If i am reading properly the difference between XPS & EXPS is XPS gives full co-witness & EXPS gives 1/3 co-witness, am i correct with this?
2. Which is better or preferred by most, full or 1/3 ?
3. What model EoTech do you recommend ? don't care about nightvision. Also want the ability to be able to add a magnifier later on if i decide to do so.
Thanks for all the help, this is my first rifle & first optic so just trying to get it right. Any help is and has been appreciated. Thanks

I have the Eotech 512 with a UTG backup iron sight on my MP-15 81100. Provides full co-witness so I can shoot either red dot or iron sights independently, no need for risers. Like this set up a lot, but next step is to find a half way decent flip up magnifier to put behind the 512 to extend the range.

eotech 512 is the best deal unless you want to have CR123 battery similarity then go 517.

^^^ The same reason I use the XPS2 on my 12 gauge FNH SLP Mk1.

so was just looking at a pic of the exps with a magnifier and was looking at the clearances. Does anybody know, I have the mbus flip up rear sight, if i go with a xps2-0 and mount a magnifier is there enough clearance for the magnifier to clear the rear sight when folded down or do I have to go with the EXPS setup for the extra height in order to clear?

I just got the exps2-0 along with the g23 3x magnifier fts. It's a great package and looks great also. If you decide to go the same route, be sure and add the 7mm riser that comes with the g23 and you will have sufficient clearance of the rear flip down sight. This assuming you have mounted the optics clear to the rear. I would recommend that setup if you have decided to go EoTech and don't care about night vision. I also like the exps2-0 side mounted brightness level buttons. Hope that answers. Good Luck
