Does any one have reviews or thoughts on the redfield battle zone 3x9-42mm scopes for m&p 15's (magpul edition).
also was interested in learning about the redfield revolution

I have a Redfield Revolution 3x9-40 on a bolt action. I'm very happy with it. I compared it against Nikons in the same price class (less than $250) and preferred the Redfield. The Redfield's glass seems more clear. I collect Nikon cameras and lenses so I was frankly surprised the Redfield glass appears to be optically more clear and even. But, that is just one price point.

Redfield makes a very nice scope. Bets in class in our opinion. However, a 3x9 is too powerful for any close quarter shooting. If you will not do any shooting under 50 yards, you'll be fine. Otherwise look at a 2x7. The Counterstrike is also a nice red dot for the money as well.

I agree that a 3-9 does limit your close in abilities. I'd go with a 1-something and you will be a lot happier in the end. Look at the Primary Arms 1 power scopes.

I switch between an Aimpoint Pro and Redfield Revolution 3x9. Both mounted in Larue QD mounts so I switch quickly without losing zero.

The Revolution is made in the USA and is a good scope for the price. Also lighter than many scopes in that price range.

I believe that Leupold now owns and makes Redfield Revolution rifle scopes. That may, or may not, speak for their quality.

I also understand Leupold makes Redfields. I believe the glass is ground in Asia and the scope is assembled in the US. But, they are good scopes at a reasonable price!

I like the Redfields as well, though I am tempted to try an older Japanese Nikon in 3X9??? for the same reason you suggest, I own a couple of Nikkormats,,??? billy magg
