My new M&P Sport .223 got slightly modified. Great rifle and I love everything besides cleaning it All mods are pretty solid in quality and not as expensive, scope is Nikon P223 3x32 which is also great for this rifle.

With subsonic ammo the 300 BLK seems quieter than an air rifle. I use the same suppressor on all of my 5.56 too, not air rifle quiet but still hearing safe.

Thanks...15" Troy Alpha, had to ditch the *** UTG rail and proprietary barrel nut but well worth it. Trying to keep it clean and light, basically the exact opposite of all the Mall/Range ninja rigs you see plastered everywhere.

Why did you ditch the utg?
I'm thinking about it, a 200 dollar switch. I don't know what to do. If I do I'm going to get the troy alpha vtac ff hand guard in fde.

Because the Troy is very light for a 15" rail, and quad rails are pretty much obsolete...no one needs that much real estate for mounting gear unless they are range/mall ninjas and IMO the UTG stuff is ****. If you go Troy, you will have to buy a standard barrel nut and if doing the swap yourself, a torque wrench, vice, upper receiver block, armorer's wrench, hammer, and punch for the gas block taper pin....or pay a gunsmith $30 (like I did) and have them swap it out.

Just a heads up, put a Troy Lo Pro on my OR this weekend, and we were able to remove and re-use the gas tube. Not sure if just a different revision/year of the OR, but the roll pin/tube came out as normal...

Yep, between goldspurs09 vid and Gunny getting the Lantac, it's down to one of those two for me - haven't decided yet. Surefire I can get local, Lantac I have to order...the Lantac vids look sweet as well though.
Or this one... PWS FSC556, looks good here also gets great reviews. sigh I need to stop searching lol...

Finally got to take a pic in the outdoors with some decent weather.
I'm really loving this Sport, I don't have to chase brass. This little pile was 6' to my right.
Good Luck and good shooting everyone!

First post, long time lurker. I'm one of the younger guys, a S&W M&P-15 Sport is the only gun I have. I shoot in in Appleseed shoots, 200 yard field matches, and all manner of plinking and family fun. Being my only gun, it's my choice for a defensive arm as well, and I don't think one can do much better than a reliable AR.
I have about 700 rounds through the gun after buying it this December at my LGS, -zero- malfunctions, 150 or so rounds of Wolf Gold, the rest a mix of Federal XM193 and XM855. Majority of the shooting has been with the Magpul irons, the last 150 rounds or so have been with a cheap Chinese "FSI"-branded 1-4x illuminated scope my brother had sitting around.
Only upgrades are a GI loop sling, CAA light mount, and a cheap LED light that has served me well on multiple guns for years. I have a Magpul grip and a Vortex Strikefire II on the way as a graduation present.

And on the other end of that swap with Gunny and TheCatch8 is my 13" Alpha Rail addition...
Recent additions...
Troy 13" Alpha Rail and gas block.
Rail section on lower front allows quickly adding bipod or a Vertical Grip, and the IWS Micro Flush QD Sling Mount dropped right in.
Lantac Dragon Muzzle Device.
Geissele SSA Trigger
WMD Nickel Boron BCG
Larue mount for Micro T1
Laure Index Clips
Noveske QD Endplate
Changed from STR to ACL-L buttstock
Tried a few new grips, going with the MIAD, it's on the way.
And my Aimpoint 3X/Larue combo has been on backorder for 3 weeks now .

Very nice! I like the looks of that new stock as well. Have you had a chance to shoot it with the Dragon on it?

Aimpoint 3X arrived today, it was on backorder from Larue for almost a month . Seems like most go with the Tall Larue mount, but I went with the Short mount based on Larue's recommendation. Seems to line up well, and doesn't stand proud of the Micro like the Tall would. Should get out on the range Saturday .

LOL I think I might be at a stopping point for this one .
Went to the range today for the first time after changing out the gas block and BCG - had to re-zero with the BCG change and also moving the T1 slightly forward to accommodate the 3x - confused the heck out of me a first...
3X is nice - helpful for my eyes as things get a bit iffy for me over 100. The Larue mount is solid, love that I can just flip the lever and flick it off without any full.
Had an issue with the rail section on the Alpha coming loose after about 60 rounds - I thought I put blue locktite on the screws, but I suppose it's possible I didn't - so will have to re-apply there. No issues with the barrel nut screws though - much liking the longer handguard and the longer sight radius for the iron sights

Something I forgot to mention, was a good day for optics at the range today - the guy to left of me had a Steyr with a EOTech, an the guy to the right had an AR with an ACOG - so we all check out each other's optics . EOTech was nice but with my astigmatism it was a little blurred/smeared. the ACOG was very sweet - if I had it to do all over again I would have to think very hard about not getting an ACOG vs my T1 and 3X.

Yeah, but my T1 and 3X were basically the same price after buying both, although they are a bit more versatile I suppose. I made the mistake of fondling a few different ACOG's at my LGS today at lunch. BIG mistake lol. Now I want one, a 3.5x35, actually - TA11 I think. ...sigh
It's a tad longer than the TA31 4x that seems to be so popular, but the eye relieve is so much better.
Maybe I just need to build a new rifle to justify getting one

My mighty sport.
Only 200 rounds through her but she handles as good as any I've run in the past.
