SD40VE rattle fix. Maybe.....
I am the owner of two very noisy magazines for my SD40VE. I've read around a bit and heard different remarks about the rattle. I didn't buy into the "double stacks rattle" theory because none of my other double stacks rattle. Maybe a little noise if you really shake them, but nothing close to the clatter of these magazines which rattle in the gun even when I walk.
I found a quick and easy (apparent) fix. I took the spring and follower out of the magazine and switched them with the spring and follower from one of my 15 round .40 Glock magazines. No more rattle. I get a slight rattle when the magazine has 13 and 11 rounds, but with a chambered round and 14 rounds in the magazine, I can shake the gun all I want and no rattle.
I manually cycled all the rounds through the gun, then took it out to test it. I went through 50 rounds with no issues. I said earlier that it's an apparent fix because 50 rounds, even though flawless, isn't quite enough for me to be convinced.
I'm going to try it with the SD follower and the Glock spring. I tend to believe I had an issue with that combo, but for the life of me I can't recall what it was.
EDIT: the 14th round is very stiff using the SD follower with the Glock spring. Too stiff when in the gun.

SD40VE magazine rattle fix
Normal? I don't know.
Common, for sure... at least with the SD40VE... it sure is annoying.
Like I mentioned above, my other .40 double stack magazines don't rattle. Any rattle from them comes from strong, intentional shaking.
I still haven't had any issues with the switched spring and follower, and it is still rattle-free.

If you guys find a fix let us know. It's the only complaint I have against my SD40 VE. And it's a minor one. But I wish I could fix it. Even aftermarket mags.

I (hopefully) have a new SD40 on its way and am interested about this issue as it will possibly be a carry gun. I searched the forum here to see if anyone has tried the Wolff magazine springs but couldn't find any posts. They're rated as +5% strength over the factory springs, wonder if this might work too. Guess I'll find out in the future if my mags rattle. Until then this Glock spring is an interesting fix too, thanks for posting it.

I'm a fan of wolff springs anyway, so if they work that'll be a winner to me. If anyone tries this, I definitely want to know.

SD40VE rattle fix. Maybe.....
I am curious...does anyone here have 10 round mags, if so, do they rattle with 10 rounds in but not with less or not at all? my 14 cap mags for my SD40 VE easily rattle with 14 rounds in but it takes pretty serious shaking to make any noise at all with 13 or less rounds.

Just an update:
It's still working. This obviously isn't the best fix for a lot if people, but I happened to have the extra Glock mag.

Stop putting clips in your gun, and use magazines...
(Yeah, I know, but someone had to do it... )

My SD40VE magazines rattle no matter how many rounds are in them. It is annoying, but livable. I may try the glock spring and follower if I can ever find glock mags again. At first, I thought this would be a major issue when carrying concealed because it was quite loud, but in reality, there is so much background noise when out and about that the noise is not even noticeable most of the time. (and when it is noticeable, no one jumps to the conclusion that it is a gun making the noise)

You can buy the spring and follower separate and not the whole mag.

I noticed my mags rattle only when it's full, maybe it's an audible full indicator. Idk

Which glock model did you use the magazine spring from? I would love to be able to purchase one and get this damn rattle gone!!!

Welcome to the Forum Rossomefafo
This is a 9 year old thread, Just For Your Information
I have had several Glocks & would think the SD9/SD40s magazines are G19/G23 size by their magazine capacity so I went to Wolff Gunsprings website & got this Info
NOTE: The G26/G27 Magazines use G19/G23 Springs
Magazine Springs - 19, 21, 23, 26-30, 32, 33
For Use In:
Glock 19 - 15 or 17 rounds
Glock 21 - 13 rounds
Glock 23 - 10 and 13 rounds
Glock 26, 27, 29 & 30 - 9 or 10 rounds
Glock 21 and 33 - 10 rounds
Glock 32 - 10 and 13 rounds
Here is the Link to the Current Sigma .40 Magazines Springs
NOTE: The are different at the Top & Bottom than a Glock spring JFYI
https://www.gunsprings.com/SMITH%20&...D58/dID260#925
Also NOTE: I am new to The Sigma SD Series as I bought one Yesterday..
Good Luck with that Rattle Issue, I have experienced it before on a few pistols, Also note that the 40 S&W round is straight walled where the 9mm Para is a tapered round.
