Can anyone suggest a decent case, for a model 41. It seems a shame to put this pistol in the case this pistol comes with. What do most of of you guys use. The reason why I am asking is because the foam in my case is shot. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

They are somewhat costly, but Americase puts out a very good quality case for not only handguns, but rifles and shotguns as well.

Made in Texas, USA!

ebay sometimes has some of their seconds for sale as well as firsts.

Yes, they are sweet.
I have a presentation case for a 7" is why I was asking what barrel length you had, but then I figured out you were probably asking about a "using" case instead of a "sitting around looking pretty" case.

I have used the 2800 for single pistols and have plenty of room left for magazines. It should work great for the barrel length your Model 41 has. The Apache cases are incredible for the price!

I neglected to mention my M41 will be the shorter 5.5 inch barrel. I'm going to make a sheet of cardboard "silhouette" of my M41 and take that to Harbor Freight to try it for size. I'll have the pistol in the top, with extra magazines, ammunition boxes and miscellaneous tools in the lower level. That's how I built up the Apache 3800 I use today.

That's a smart idea, I'm sure it'll be perfect for your needs. If you didn't have too much gear the 1800 might even work. Make sure you look for coupons before you head down to the store.

I have seen the 4800 side-by-side with a case I own that cost about 2-1/2 as much, and aside from the foam and a few details, the Apache case seemed just as good as mine at less than half the price. I have not seen a 2800 or a 3800.

I think it is just personal preference, cubed foam vs precut compartments vs custom closed cell foam.

All I would add is that any case you plan to keep hermetically sealed for any length of time, the contents can benefit from a handful of silica gel bags or capsules. Aside from that, all the contemporary cases seem better than the what was available when the Model 41 was new, :D;)

"Nice" is subjective! If you want a really nice one start off with a leather attache' case and make a custom interior with foam, suede and or wood. Don't know if you have the patience, skills or desire - but that would be a great way to get a high-end custom made case to your spec's.

A tip for the Apache cases. After plucking out the cubes to form the compartments, use spray can Plasti-dip to seal and lock all of the foam cubes together.

This will seal out moisture, add strength/rigidity to the foam, and keep gun gun chemicals from degrading the foam.

It usually takes 3-4 coats. 1st coat is a light "wetting" coat, then apply subsequent coats until it's to your liking.

I don't have my M41 5.5 inch barrel pistol yet, so I have been trying to get dimensions from the internet. Every site I've found lists the length as 10.0 or 10.5 inches, without mentioning the barrel length. The 1800 case is 8 and 1/8th inch so I don't think it would work without having the pistol "tilted" in the case. But it any event, those Apache cases are really good.

I have a 20% off coupon; thanks for that reminder. I just wish the Apache case were available in a color other than black. I could get a Pelican case in a different color, but we'd be talking a whole lot more moola!

I can second GunHacker's suggestion. He and I did the same thing, and it makes a world of difference in how well those compartments keep their shape. I used red Plasti-dip spray to provide some visual contract, and I think it looks very good. Otherwise those feeble pick-away foam cubes lose their shape in one or two range trips.

Guess what? They have started offering them in different colors! I've seen green, yellow, tan and I think gray for the various models. I'd love to be able to get a couple of new cases that are different. Unfortunately the border still isn't open, so no Harbor Freight for me anytime soon.

Where did you see the Apache 1800 in colors? Harbor Freight online only shows them available in black.

Border?

Sorry I should have been more specific. The 3800 and 4800 are now available in different colors. I've never bought an 1800 myself as I like to take multiple guns to the range and the larger cases are perfect for that.

As for the border, yes I'm on the other side of it in Canada. I live near Toronto and for me to get to the Buffalo, NY area it's just over an hour drive. The area I visit when I'm over has two Harbor Freight stores so I'm in there to pick up a few things when we spend a weekend.

With the closure since March I'm missing picking up gear. Cases here are ridiculous in cost. A popular brand here called Nanuk is at least double what an Apache case costs even with the currency exchange. Nanuk makes a great case but no way are they worth the price they ask.
