Ran across a rather forlorn 909 the other day. Was in a bit of a hurry and had no cash on me....but I got to thinking...

Looked like a LE trade in...fair amount of wear to the blued finish, particularly on the muzzle. But, I did not get a chance to fondle...errr...examine it. May have to go back in the next couple of days to take a closer look.

I'm new to the 3rd gen pistols, having recently acquired a 908s. And I think the bug is biting me. Hard.

What can you all tell me about the 909? Seems to have been a model that lasted only a year or two. If the 908 is the "value line" to the 3913, what is the 909's corresponding model?

I think they had a price of $199 on this old warrior. Another reason to be intrigued.

Whatcha think?

$199?!?!?!?

Buy it now. Stop reading this, and go leave a note on the store's front door and tell the owner you want it!!! Holy cow, $199 buys you a SCCY pistol and for the same price you can buy a Smith and Wesson!!!

The 909 is the Value Line version of the 3904. Full size single stack pistol. Third Gen version of the Mdl 39. I had a 3904 and it is a sweet shooting gun.

Unless it is totally destroyed $199.00 is very reasonable.

I want one of these bad.

Everything good about the 3913/908 but longer grip and slide.

For $200 in any decent condition, it's good. These guns clean up well.

Call the shop back, offer a credit card number to hold it, and get back asap.

Well,.....did ya get it yet?????? I want to see what a $200 Smith looks like. I bet I want one. I've got 3genitis too.

It's been a very busy week, only got back to the gun shop this afternoon and barely ten minutes from closing. Much to my surprise the 909 was still in the case surrounded by a bunch of 40 calibre Smiths. Might have been fortuitous.

Frankly, it looked better than I remembered from seeing it a week ago. Blueing on the slide was a little worn, some minor scratches from use, a couple of tiny dings in the grip, but the bore was very clean and very bright.

And then there was the etched inventory number on the side of the frame. I was told part of a bunch bought from Puerto Rico, likely LE but could have been confiscated. Hmmmm. Oh what the hell. I just love the way the SW single stacks fit in my hand.

So I brought it home. My second 3rg generation in 3 months. Other is a 908s. Came with one mag. And a final price of $175.

I know, pics or it didn't happen. Will come later. After I'm finished with my happy dance!

My "new" 909. Actually looks better than this.

Etching on the frame. Some sort of inventory number?? Any thoughts???

The addiction grows. The 909 and the 908s. Love me some single stack.

John...don't know which model 40s they had. But there sure were a bunch. This place caters to the LE crowd so I'm assuming lots of likely police trade in guns. Great bunch to deal with though. Always helpful, very knowledgeable, and patient.

Good deal

It's low mileage. The blue on the autos of that era wore off at a comically fast rate.

The happy dance continues. I couldn't be more pleased.

About 120 rounds of 124g Blazer and Winchester NATO...no hiccups. Probably about 3-4 inch groups at 10 yards. Not a tack driver by any means, but accurate enough.

And like my 908s, just a joy to shoot. Guess I'll be on the lookout for another 9 round mag.

Yes, thanks for the tip,.....I ordered me ten. This should free me up to sell off a couple of more 'collectible' early mags to offset the cost.

Thanks guys,....now you have me searching for a 909.

Numerically speaking, you should be hot to trot for a 910...

Great score!

I went through the academy in 1989 with a 3904. I loved that gun. I could make head shots 'on demand' from 25 yards in DA-mode with that gun. Too bad Glocks were all the rage at the time..... :(

You know, the DA pull on my 908s and the 909 feel very similar to my 10-5 in length of travel, weight and overall feel. And by feel I mean smoothness. I wonder if others have noticed and made this observation.

Nice addition.I have had 3 sigs that I have sold over the years but will never sell my 3913 tsw,4013 tsw or 4513 tsw.For the $175 you paid that was a deal.Polymer pistols just don't compare.
