I ordered new night sights for my 4566 to replace the factory Novaks that appeared to have been re-spotted by the previous owner. I can't begin to tell you how much trouble I had pounding off the original sights, but I was finally able to without too much damage. So they looked like what I expected until I turned them over and discovered they were Trijicon night sights.
How could I have saved all the screwing around disassembling the decocker levers and taking the sights off just to discover I could have sent the intact slide in for re-lamping?
I guess I'll pound them back on and send the slide off to Trijicon
? Is the 4566 dovetail the same on my 4513 or do I need to return the new sights??

not to hit you too hard but, i had a nite sight on my S.A. micro that were dead.Called Trijacon if they could identify and /or re-lamp all they needed was a picture, fax or emailed to them to correctly identify it .
WHAT GREAT C.S.

How can you tell they're not just regular Novak's until you remove them? All the Trijicon sights I've ever seen before are visibly marked on the top sides.

Those in the picture look painted and you wouldn't have noticed until you remove and see the markings. The recent pair I had relamped was marked on the sides. They are great with a real nice white outline around the perimeter.

That's odd, I've also never seen Trijicons stamped on the bottom like that, even on other '98 sights.

The dovetails should be the same for your 4513, but the sight heights will be different and that may affect the POI too much. Here's a good resource page for S&W Trijicons, just click on the 4513 sights and they'll list the specs for comparison: Trjicon Bright & Tough™ Night Sights

And rather than return the sights, you could always buy another 4566 to put them on...

Your sights were probably considered "factory" S&W Novak sights that used Trijicon tubes as opposed to sights actually marketed by Trijicon - a subtle difference to be sure.

It's your call but since they are already off the slide, I would just send Trijicon the sights.
