From my “wishlist” of S&W 3rd gens is the S&W 1046 (which I purchased a couple months ago) and the S&W 845. My recently purchased S&W 845 arrived today! It’s a WISCHO Export numbered 746 of the 1,160 manufactured.

I’m very pleased with the condition of the S&W 845.

Cheers!!!
David

I was happy to see that you were high/winning bid on the 845 Target Champion. I was “watching” last Sunday.

Thanks for that 1,160 total made number. I’m going by the info “skjos” has been compiling and thankfully posting. My latest copy doesn’t have a total for the T.C.’s. I would have thought there were less made and exported.

Fantastic grab, I had no idea one was up for bid. Gunbroker has just been a damn downer IMO, and I don’t get on as I had for so many years.

I also love to hear the production number and wildly curious how you learned of that number. It makes for an interesting discussion as there are basically three variants of the phenomenal 845:

1) the first run MPC-prefix guns, reportedly 485 were made
2) the 2nd run “Model of 98” SDN-prefix guns minted to 150
3) these WISCHO guns that you report were made to 1,160

While the Target Champion was certainly made in the largest volume, they are likely the most difficult to obtain as nearly all were shipped to Europe.

Anyone familiar with my posts knows my level of love for the PC Limited target guns. Of them, the 845 is my favorite.

There was a Production Letter for WPC0310 that listed serial number ranges and quantities for all the 845 production runs, and a Lew Horton letter for MPC02xx. The list has been updated on my PC with the latest, I just haven't uploaded it yet:

1) the first run MPC-prefix guns, MPC0001-0437 (a couple gaps in the serial number range), 435 were made
2) the second run were WISCHO guns WPC prefix, WPC0001-1161, 1161 were made
3) the third run “Model of 98” SDN-prefix guns, SDN0001-0159 + PCZ0181, 160 were made

Fantastic grab sir,

I put my 845 TC up against my 945 (I shot the 945 very well) the 845 blasted it out of the water IMO.... results below.

TC left/945 right

2 hand hold, 230gr w231 load, 15yards approximately if I remember correctly.

Every .45 auto I procure, I compare to the TC and so far nothing can touch it...
