Looking for a source for CS40 recoil springs - usual sources seem to no longer list them - any alternate springs (CS9? or ???) would like to get 2 new springs for pistols I have purchased in past year.

Might be hard finding a S&W replacement so you may have to try some springs for other pistols & tweak them.

I suggested a couple springs in this post but as I said in it, I don't have a CS40 to test them in.

Thanks, but TMI and thread seems to wander into 1911 territory.

But from what I gather there seemed to be 2 options being considered W-C 10SEN22 (22#) recoil spring and ISMI flat wire GLC-22 (22# strength & 31 coils). These were being evaluated, but mostly in a 4013 and a CS9. Did noot see a conclusion (or maybe I missed it?) relative to the CS40.

As to factory springs, the P/N I have for CS40/CS45 is 263310000 (CS9 is 263210000) but photo ow Midway 414045 (no longer available) indicates same spring for CS40, CS45, CS9D????

I'm not sure that is correct. CS40/45 seem to share recoil rod and spring, but I think the CS9 is different.

Last time I called S&W with a question about my CS9, the CS rep offered to send me a recoil spring at no charge.

I've never emailed them, always called them with good results.

Midway, Numrich, Brownells - have email in to SW but dont hold much hope there based on past experience trying to buy parts direct from them.
Any other suggestions welcome.

Totally deja vu. Again. This question has been thought out and discussed here a bunch but I still follow every time.

Nothing has changed it seems except I have fewer new ones now. The little 3.25" 945 I got takes the same recoil spring so that's good but bad.

It would seem like "someone" could manufacture these springs. (Wolf, Sprinco.) Of course there isn't an astronomical total of CS40's/45's and 945's that S&W made but there is more than a few. Even a limited run would be profitable. If they were available I'm sure many of use would buy a lifetime of them this time.

I always scoffed when people said that they wouldn't ever buy a 3rd Gen, (or the 1st/2nd,) due to lack of factory support and parts. Most every part can still be found except for these recoil springs.

I sure hope those that only have the new "plastic" S&W examples don't read this.

Don't hold your breath on Sprinco.

In 2016 I asked Sprinco/Alan if he would be interested in making another 3rd Gen item & he said he was disappointed with the "lackluster response" to his dual nested recoil spring investment & would be "reluctant to go out on a limb" for another 3rd Gen part. :(

Maybe I had better purchase a couple more - just so he knows we are still out here.

What springs did he make? If they are duals for a 4013 I'll buy a bunch of them!

So, would these dual spring Sprinco's for the 4516, 4013, and 457 also work for a CS40/CS45? If so, count me in also.

In the email conversation I mentioned above with Sprinco/Alan he said no one ever gave him a comprehensive list of the pistols the nested/dual springs work in.

I added those models in my reply but he's never fully listed them (though I see he finally expanded some on the models listed) which I don't understand.

Those models are:

4013TSW
4053TSW
4056TSW
4013 (R4)
4014 (R4)
4040
4053 (R4)
4054 (R4)
4516 (all except -1)
4513TSW
4553TSW
457
457D
