Thoughts on the SW1911 Subcompact 45ACP
I have been carrying a Springfield EMP in a Milt Sparks VM2 for quite some time. It was a decent setup that served me well, but since I picked up a P365 it began spending more time in the safe then on the belt. So I sold the EMP but I just couldn’t part with the holster.
As illogical as it may sound , I’m looking to buy another 3” 1911 to justify keeping the holster. After comparing all of the various offerings I’m pretty certain I would like it to be a SW1911 Pro Series in 45ACP. As such, I am very interested in hearing opinions from those that own this model. Is it dependable, accurate, durable? How do you feel it compares to the Colt Defender?
I don’t believe they are offered with night sights and likely the only thing I would want to change. Are they still using Novak low mounts, and has anyone upgraded theirs?
All thoughts and opinions are appreciated!

I don't believe the frame sizes are the same. The EMP is a slightly miniaturized 1911.

It will not fit. Early pro series seemed to me to be a much better production then anything as of late. Sights are always a bear with a Smith auto. The last shop I worked in charged double to replace the sights on a SW auto.
EMP and the Smith are completely different size/profile in the slide and frame area.

Interesting. I am aware that the EMP was ‘built around the 9mm’ however I was under the impression the major difference was in the reduction in grip depth front to rear. Although I did order this holster specifically for an EMP it is simply marked ‘3” 1911’ by Milt Sparks, this made me think it would fit.
Due to these responses it is apparent that I need to take this holster to my LGS and try it out with a few 3” 1911’s first to be sure. Thank you!
As far as older versus newer quality, can anyone recommend a year or serial number range that would be more preferable? Or perhaps you have experience with a similar model from a different manufacturer that you feel is superior?

What makes the S & W sights more difficult to change out?

How about a Colt Agent DA, that would be cool? DAO version of the Defender/Agent.

If it was a traditional double action (DA/SA) I’d be all over it! By far my favorite action type, although not very compact.

FYI... There is a S&W 1911 Pro Series in .45ACP SN: UCF8082 on the big auction site in New Old Stock condition (Item # 955228997). The seller may know the production date.
