Bought myself a Spare 3913

Great snag of a great gun. It's funny, most people (not the local S&W folks) do not recognize what a great gun a 3913 is. This is a good example of something "flying under the radar".

Congratulations, I would have done the same purchase in a minute.

Best wishes,

I have a 3953 but dislike dao.
On the fence of looking for a 3913 or getting the new SW PC shield on sale with 2 mags, carry case cleaning kit, range bag and SW knife for $300.00 after rebate.
Not crazy about striker fire or plastic frames but they do
have a lifetime warranty.

Congratulations! I have a 3953 (and love the DAO action on this). Mine is very tight and seems to have been shot very little. The Meprolight night sights were dead. $10 shipping and $57, had Meprolight relamp the sights. Totally worth it!

Meprolight or Trijicon?

I did notice that the one I just bought has the wide hood instead of the narrow one.

Anyone know the reason S&W swapped some of these 3rd gen from a narrow hood to a wider barrel hood? Also, my 4053 has wide hood and my 1013/4013 has a narrow one. 6904 has wide hood too.

Got a 3913 when they came out; followed by a 3913NL.

When Glock introduced the 26/27 "used" 3913s and 3914s were literally going for under $200 bucks around here...... I took advantage! Makes me :)

I missed the boat on that. Didn't know much about them then and was anti-9mm. All I cared for was 40 & 10mm. As I have gotten older, I am more tolerant of the 9mm especially for a concealed carry piece. :)

The 3913 is a fine pistol. I regret selling the one I had many years ago. Although not the same, my Shield is the closest thing I have that fills the same role as my old 3913.

I've said this before, but I consider the 3913 series to be the best discreet carry pistols S&W ever made. No cheap plastic - slim and compact, easy to draw from under clothing with no hangups, lightweight, and - best of all - functions flawlessly with any 9mm you choose to feed it.

I think having a spare is a good idea - I'd hate to lose my 3913NL!
