My late sixties 41 had become too finicky to enjoy. Took it to a local gunsmith with no luck. Sent it to Clark for their "reliability" package. Told their gunsmith that if he could make it run like it should, I would like to add a Clark threaded STC barrel to my collection. He said he has never found a 41 that couldn't be cured. I am a believer. 300 rounds thru all three barrels without a hitch. Took 2 months to get bit it back, but it was worth the wait. The "field" barrel was cut down from a 7". Since I use a reflex sight on it, the lack of an front sight works for me. (79 year old eyes don't like iron sights). To me there is nothing like the feel and precision of a Model 41.

You caught my attention, I've got a M41 that I bought new in the early eighties and it used to run fine. Now it won't hardly run at all to the point where I never shoot it anymore. I'm thinking this may be worthwhile!

I think there's more to it than what they mention above. Jim Clark used to provide a pamphlet with his replacement barrels. In it, he says that there are three different breechblock inserts that fit the slide. One centers the casehead, one is slightly biased left, and the other is slightly biased right. This allows a better chance of aligning the cartridge with the chamber as it leaves the magazine. Of course, it must be done in conjunction of fitting the extractor and its spring.

PS: it looks like an expensive job, going by the "pricing" tab in the above link!

SWEET !

I don't know how they do what they do ...but it's just "Magical: !
Work by them boy's , like a trigger job , just puts a smile on my face and a song in my heart when shooting .

I need to carry my model 41 over to their shop ... I've been shooting a Ruger MKII that they worked on and mounted a Millet SP-1 red dot sight on several years ago ... the red dot sighted pistol got me back in shooting when eye problems (detached retinas) cropped up ... the trigger job and red dot sight sorta put the model 41 on the back shelf ...
I need to get it out and have the Clark Boys slick up the trigger and mount a much needed red dot sight ...
Thanks for posting ... you have inspired me !

I understand how you feel as I felt the same. I shot bullseye in college in the sixties with a 41. Traded it for something I can't recall. Dumb move. Got this one about 10 years ago and it seemed ok. When it started giving me grief it stayed in the safe. I decided to either fix it or get rid of it. I am glad I went for the fix. Clark is a great company to deal with. Not the cheapest, but I don't mind paying for the best. I sent them the pistol with 2 barrels, 2 magazines and a collection of Wolff springs and asked them to tweak all of it. The total cost including shipping both ways was under $900 of which the threaded barrel was $500. I have yet to try it with a suppressor, but my son has one that I will try just for fun. Give Clark a call, you won't be sorry.
