I have a friend who has a Model 1913 with a little ammo and he is coming to me for advice. The last I knew there was very little interests in these pistols and the street value was fairly low...but I have been out of touch for some time.

So what are these going for in real money between real people these days? No box but in shootable, decent condition for its age?

It seems to be an interesting old pistol that S&W would have done well had they not insisted on a proprietary caliber?

Thanks!

Mr. kitch, there is a small loyal following here on the Forum. The ammo with box, and the gun boxes are very scarce. The guns come up for sale quite regularly, all but nickel.

Sold prices have been @ $500.00-$800.00 depending on condition of course. Excellent condition ones are not selling at @ $1,200.00-$1,400.00. A really nice condition one sold for $495.00 but the seller stated that it could have been refinished. Markings were still crisp and clear.

Buffalo Arms has .35 S&W in stock but it’s not cheap at $85.79 for 50 rnds. At least you’d have the brass to reload.

It appears from two sources that the only thing "proprietary" about the .35 S&W cartridge was the name and headstamp! The .35 S&W and .32 ACP both use a .3125" diameter bullet and the same 17mm case length. The only dimensional differences seem to be the base and neck diameter of the .35 S&W being slightly larger, probably because of slightly thicker case. Both references indicate the .32 ACP is perfectly acceptable in the .35 S&W pistols. The small diameter difference may have precluded use of the S&W cartridge in .32 ACP guns, but not the other way!

Does anyone have any documented information that contradicts the information above?

There's actually at least one member of the S&WCA that I know of that has a nice collection of these . They have a faithful following , as avid as a revolver or PC owner .
