Conceal Carry 945 compact or Kimber Ultra CDP II

I am looking to upgrade my conceal carry fire arm. I have a 3913 which I love but I want to punch bigger holes so I want to upgrade to 45acp. I have a full size 1911 which I love as well. So aside the price difference any advice on which would be a better choice.

Hi. Want bigger holes in a smaller package and already love your 3913??? The answer is NONE OF THE ABOVE....Look into a Chief's Special in 40 cal or 45 ACP.Same platform as the 3913 which you love already,7 rounds and 1 in chamber, and Bigger Holes for less cash than your other two suggestions.The only tweek you will insist upon is Big Dog's Custom Delrin Grips to get rid of the Hogue rubber ones that have a tendency to "Print Out" in concealed carry mode.There are lots of CS Series lovers out here to help you thru any question you might have.Hope this helps and may God Bless.......Mike

How badly do you want to carry a single action? If you're cool with it, Kimber is hard to beat. Otherwise Smith has options for you. I personally like my M&P 9c. My 45c is a little bulky for me.

I prefer metal/alloy guns to polymer. I have tried the 9mm compact M&P but none of the back straps felt as good in my hand as my 3913. I really like the ergonomics of the 3913 and the 1911. The 945 would probably be a closer match to the Kimber Ultra CDP II since it is from their custom shop. I am interested in the trigger feel and accuracy on the two and over all quality.
 
I respectfully disagree. The CDP Ultra with it's "straight" main spring housing you may find, presents with a low front sight depending on your hands shape and size. I know mine did till the housing was replaced with an arched one. Fine gun, very accurate, excellent sights, great trigger. Hates over lubing or being limp wristed. Loose the diving board sized ambi safety pads too. They get released too often when being carried.

I know that the Ultra is attractive because of size, but I would recommend thinking long and hard about possibly a "Pro" or 4" version. Its nice to have the tiny platform, but in life or death the 4" accuracy speaks volumes.
 
Yeah I am leaning towards the 3 3/4 inch 945 right now. The quality and finish of the Smith seems that much nicer than the Kimber. Also Kimber Schwartz Safety Failure thing concerns me for a conceal carry gun.
 
You will be hard pressed to find a more suitable carry gun than the 3 3/4" 945. IMO it's about perfect.

If you can get your hands on one, you may just agree.

Ultra reliable, perfect balance, accurate as all hell. etc One of my faves, can you tell?

rbert0005 is absolutely correct. My 945 3 3/4" gave me my best LE qualification this year, 100%. The precision fit and smooth trigger contribute to its phenominal accuracy. Its size gives me a perfect balance and rides easily whether carrying concealed or on duty. You will not be disappointed.
 
Concealed Carry 45

I have a model 457 and it's the best S&W I have ever owned. Fires any kind of round and never jams. It was economically priced, has a safety and easy to conceal. Everyone that shot it wanted to buy it from me. Even the Taurus and Beretta guys liked it!
