$1,000

In Kalifornistan $1K won't buy a whole lot of S&W. My LGS has had a later model 625 JM at $800 for awhile. It's more than I want to pay. Maybe I would look for an earlier blued .45ACP revolver with some wear to bring the price down.

A pinned 63 no dash but they are very hard to find here. Remember, in Kalifornistan if it's not on the not-too-unsafe roster it has to be within driving distance... twice. Unless you're a cop.

Any all metal S&W handgun with wood grips. NO PPPs! (Polymer Plastic Pistol)

I've got everything I really need, but it's a hypothetical question, just for fun, so I would be looking for a 629-3 4-inch, or a 629-4 square-butt, also 4-inch. Whether I could find a nice one for less than $1000 is iffy. Probably not. :o If that didn't fly, maybe I could find a 29-5 4-inch?

I noticed the 640 no dash above. Terrific revolver. Great choice.

A local gun shop got in a model 29-2 on consignment recently. It's the 4" barrel. The owner has it priced at $775.
As far as the need to buy it on Christmas, they'll be open at 10am this morning, I'll just set my watch back 12 hours.
Maybe by next Christmas I can find some ammo for it.

First choice,

1. S&W m29-10 44magnum, 6.5" Barrel in nickel. Or any dash number in nickel.

Gun shops are closed.

Forgot a $1,000 gift to buy a gun, I add another $1,000 to it should get me a new or used m29-what ever right? Maybe money left over for broccoli too? Or a full auto Thompson BB gun too? Lol

There is a 2.5" 686-3 locally with box etc that the guy is asking $1K for. I think it is a decent buy but have no interest in it.
But if someone were to just hand me $1K with the OP's conditions that 686 would be in my safe right now

Seeing that it is "OPM" (other people's money) I'd probably get an MP 15 since I happen to have some .223 laying about. Prices have doubled in 2020 but heck, I ain't paying for it. Joe
