Just curious what you all would think a 10-8 should be selling for. My local gunshop has a 4" one that is near mint, but wearing non original grips for $550. No box or paperwork, does this seem in the ballpark?

A brand new Model 10 is around $700, and the police trade-ins, when they show up, are half that. In between is condition, barrel length and profile, engineering change (dash number), grips, and extras.
Take a look at this $500 10-9 to see which you like better.

Elsewhere on that site is a $500 65-5, a stainless 357 which is more valuable, other things equal, but when it comes to used guns, things are rarely equal. I did lots of research before buying my first, good luck to you.

Near mint, maybe. After market grips and lack of a box hurt. I collect Model Tens. $550 would be at the upper limit of my interest.

$550 is unfortunately a decent price for a good pre-lock K-frame these days, at least from what I've seen local examples in shops priced at.

What I was thinking. I already own three others, just been awhile since I bought one and the price was up there. Not sure I need another, but I don't have a 10-8 and this one is pretty clean. It is wearing a set of the new classic grips which to my eye look pretty awful. At first glance I thought it was a classic and than I noticed the pinned barrel.
