This nickel 469 popped up and I'm curious about it. It comes with it's box, some paperwork and several extra magazines (they appear to be 10 rounders). The seller says it an Ashland exclusive and seems proud of it with his asking price of nearly $700. What say you?

I'm not sure of what your market will bear but in Comiefornia where I'm stuck at it would sell at that price. On a side note, I'm a fan of nickle S&W's and didn't know the 469 could come like this. I have a regular blued 469 but am happy with it none the less. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I remember the satin nickel 469's and occasionally see one pop up.
Pretty sure I've seen them in brochures and posters so assumed they were standard production item, maybe the first run was for Ashland but don't know.
The 469 was a second gen gun, prior to their introduction if you wanted a little 9mm you had to buy modified guns, iirc one was called a DEVEL, the other was ASP I might be remembering wrong , with the 469 /669 you got a factory made gun, that square trigger guard was a new thing some liked it but they fell outta fashion making holster kinda hard to find, pretty sure they were 12 shot magazines.
$700 might be a but steep unless you collect variations of those.
The design was improved in the 3rd gen series like the 6906 with dovetailed 3 dot sights, 1 piece mono grip, ambi safeties and a new barrel bushing design.
On neat thing was these shortened versions would accept the larger guns 14 shot magazines, one bad thing is the 469/669 grips are unique to that gun and probably hard to find a good replacement, Pachmayer made a set but that was back in the late 80's .

It appears to be an original, Ashland special run Model 469 and it very good condition. I'm sure for those who collect 2nd gen S&W semi-auto pistols, there is a premium for these specimens. Is it worth $700? Well, if not, I do not think it's priced all that high for what is pictured. Remember, this is 2025, we just had four years of high inflation rates, so the days of these pistols selling for $300 are long gone.

Looks like a very nice gun and as with all guns you are considering buying you have to think about how often do you see a specific gun for sale and how bad do you want it. Buying it to fill out a collection will cause you to consider spending more than if you are buying it as a shooter. Guns that don't come along that often will command a higher price and as stansdds mentioned this is 2025 and prices for firearms will continue to go up.
