Y'all forced me to get one. In fact, I think this was the last one from the GB group. I got it home and completely disassembled it and ran the small parts through the ultrasonic cleaner. The inside was filthy. The gunsmith for that PD must have retired 20 years ago and they never got around to replacing him. I lubed everything and it is super smooth. The bores look great and overall, the gun is nice.

My plans are to color case harden the frame and give the cylinder and barrel a deep blueing. I have some machine work that I want to do first. I want to try to put a dovetail sight on the rear (I'll probably have to make that) and a fiber optic on the front. I also plan to EDM a port in the top of the barrel.

This is mainly going to be a machine shop play project. For $220, how can you go wrong? And how can I find a ship date on this? The # is AYS6XXX. I'm having trouble finding it in the SCSW.

I would just clean it, load it and shoot it.........it is what it is, an ex-police example of a classic, meat and potatoes service revolver.

I have a 10-8 made in 1980, similiar condition, it's an example of a bygone era when a .38 six gun was enough for a cop gun.
