My 3 magazines arrived today. Our mailboxes are at the end of our block. I looked each way to make sure nobody was nearby, unlocked the box, grabbed the package, ran to the car, hopped in, and locked the doors. I then drove down the block, pulled into the garage, and then closed the garage door before unlocking and getting out.
OK, I didn't really do that ... but I considered it.
I think I perhaps got the last, or close to the last, 10 round long magazines. Shortly after I ordered, they went "Out of Stock". I ordered them on 1/10, and received them today (1/27). I did remove the blocking pin tonight. I decided I had so many screwdrivers that I modified one for the task. I filed a V-shaped notch into the blade to help keep it sitting securely on the roll pin. I used a small rubber mallet, and I placed the magazine on a towel. I did not want to risk cracking anything. After about 6-7 moderate blows, the pin bent and fell out. In retrospect, I could have pounded harder, but as scarce as magazines are, I wanted to play it safe.
I like the blue followers, and if S&W makes more of these, I think I would order them again, over the standard 25 round magazines (assuming the 25s ever get produced again).
