10 Round SW Short Mag won't eject

I recently bought brand new SW 10 round short mags from a poster on a local forum. When I went home to test them... one functioned flawlessly, but the other does not eject when I press the magazine release button. It doesn't take a ton of elbow grease to get it out but I do need to pull it out as it will not fall on its own. Is there a way I can fix this mag to drop on its own?

I have never heard of this issue. Post some pics of the magazine. All sides and clear pics. Try comparing good magazine to defective one.

Check the seam to make sure the mag isn't splitting.

Can you tell where in the mag well the magazine is hanging up?

pull it out and check for wear/scuff marks. that will tell you where/wants going on.

This is not all that uncommon. There's nothing that says the magazines have to drop free of their own weight.

You may have some moulding flash on that one magazine. This is the most likely cause. A little fine sandpaper will take care of that issue. Also, time will solve the problem as the magazine wears in a little.

Don't lose any sleep over it.

my short mag doesnt free fall when i use the mag release. its really not an issue. the mag feeds ammo w/ out any problems. i guess its not that uncommon

I'll try to get some pictures tonight or tomorrow. It's not the end of the world but I'm going to try sanding the edges down very slightly to see if it helps.

I would guess that the lighter weight of the 10 round magazine may contribute to the problem. As others have posted, check for wear marks or scuffs on the magazine. A bit of sanding and the problem will be solved. If you can deal with it for a while, it will eventually wear down where it is rubbing and correct itself. This process might take a while, but should happen. If you have another magazine that drops free, compare the two and measure them with calipers if possible and see if you can determine where the difference is. Make them the same and your good to go.

Rub some colored chalk on the sides where it inserts into the mag well. Inset and remove the mag a couple of times. Make sure to include the boss where the mag latch fits. This will show you where the high spots are.

one of my magazines are the same way. i tried sanding it down and it is better, but still doesn't drop out on it's own when i press the mag release. not a big deal.

I think we are going to find that many firearms related products made in the last 8 months are going to have quality control issues. Magpul was cranking out crazy amount of product. There was panic buying and manufacturing.

I've experienced this with ammo and magazines.

I have the same problem. After waiting 6months I finally got 2 mags had to send them back one wouldn't function the other wouldn't eject without prying it out with a screw driver. Sent them back and waited another 6 months for replacements. One of which works, the other won't eject. S&W claims it's a vendor problem
