1026 Hammer in a 1006?

So, I have four 10mm handguns. My two 1911s have had issues in the past, requiring different springs and mags to correct. My EAA Witness Poly runs fine with target loads, but I have not tried any of the full-power stuff. It has a reputation of not being able to handle the Underwood or Buffalo Bore stuff without causing feed issues. My 1006 has never failed me.

So, in short, I am thinking about making the 1006 my daily CCW. I am used to carrying full size handguns, so the weight won't bother me (too much), and I really like the 10mm cartridge.

I was thinking about making the 1006 a little less "snaggy" and dropping in a 1026-style hammer. With the different de-cocking methods of the 1026 vs the 1006, is there anything with the hammer design itself that would prevent me from doing that?

I don't have a 1026 hammer yet, so can't do a side by side comparison, and don't want to spend the cash only to find out it can't be done.

Any opinions?

Thanks,
Tony

Darn. I had a feeling.

Thank you for the info!

The good news is that ANY spurless hammer from ANY of the 2nd or 3rd gen TDA (DA/SA) models (9mm, .40s&w, .45acp, 10mm) with the slide mounted safety, will work in the 1006 and there are LOTS of these spurless hammers around and available.

Heck, you could even grind the spur off of a spur hammer and it will work fine.
