A pawn/gunshop has a 1026 that I have been eyeballing for a while now. Actually Ive been back three times checking it out. It is in good shape with what looks like a grease or oil spot below the decocker on the frame. I have tried to see if it will come off yet but I suspect it will. Other than that it really doesnt show any other well. It has no box and one mag. I already have a witness 10mm that I rarely shoot. On the other hand I do reload and have about 1000 pieces of brass I havent used yet. They have 569.00 on it and the one time I asked what the best they would do was, he said 520.00 plus tax. I know it is not a real commone gun, so I figure it would be hard to go wrong at that price. Would it be a good investment that would probably appreciate a little over time? Let me know what you think.

You got that right. You could probably make one or two hundred bucks right off the bat if you flipped it.

Go and get it, before someone else does.
All smith 1000 series pistols are good relaiable shooters. And the 1026 isn't a very commen model.
If you really want to have a 10mm pistola, you won't regret getting that 1026.

I broke down and bought it. It is in really good shape. It has the two dots under the decock lever and has the warning on the slide. Since it will fire with the mag removed, is it safe to assume is a LE model? This is my first Smith auto so I have some learning to do. I got it for 551.00 with tax. I will post some pics, hopefully,. when my baby goes to bed.

Great purchase. I have a 1026 and a 1076, both are great shooters. The 10mm in a deep penetrating load is the only semi auto round I would consider for defense from dangerous game. Needless to say it is also one of the top LE/defense rounds available in a semi auto. I consider it every buit as capable as the 45 ACP with comparable bullets, and superior to the 45 in some loadings.
