I was told last year by someone at Hornady (via email) that they will not be making their Critical Defense round in 10mm. They told me it was made for short barreled firearms in the smaller calibers. However, a few months ago I purchasd 5 boxes of it (165 gr. FTX) from Cabelas here in Pa. The boxes have a white label pasted over them numbering them 1 of 5, 2 of 5, etc. None of my other Critical Defense ammo in other calibers have the white numbering label on them. I have not seen it anywhere else since. Have any of you 10mm guys seen it anywhere?

i have not. however i wouldnt really use Critical defense in such a high caliber personally.

the critical defense has a very thin wall on the outer casing *the part that mushrooms*, and it tends to fragment, has very good expansion but again tends to fragment in high calibers 45acp+ thus completely destroying the purpose of a HPJ. you want the mushrooming effect to spread out the shock of the round once it enters the target. if it fragments then just the butt end of the round passes through the target and acts as a FMJ ball round.

great ammo in 380-.40 cal but in gel tests that i did in larger calibers it acted more like ball ammo.

as for seeing it, i saw one box of 10mm at the cabelas here in Maine, wich i purchased and did that balistics gel test on in my glock 20 and it preformed horribly. so. i think they made a few boxes, probably 1-200 then scrapped it.

i now use Hyrda shock and x-treme shock in my glock and it destroys anything it touches.
