That is a impossible question to answer without knowing which Factory 180 offering you are talking about
Factory loaded 10MM Auto ammunition with 180 grain projectiles range in MV from roughly 1000FPS to around 1300FPS
Which are you lookin at?

Well, according to Hornady their Custom 180gr XTP is at 1275fps...
Hodgdons sez 13.5gr of #9 should get you there (almost?) @ only 34,100 psi, so...

P.S.As previously noted there are a LOT of "180 grain jacketed bullets" out there: perhaps indicating that which you are trying to duplicate (or the performance you wish to attain?) would help

With the 180 XTP-not a bullet I'd choose for defensive use:
8.4 gr Power Pistol=1152 f/s
7.6/7.7 gr BE-86= 1129 f/s
Both over 500 ft/lbs. Just how much stomp do you think you need?
IIRC, a Sierra 180 JHP didn't show any obvious signs of higher pressure. MUCH better bullet.

Alliant lists a load with Blue Dot powder that looks pretty good.
