I'm thinking about selling my 1963 12-2 and I'm just trying to get an idea of the value, if its not worth much I'll just keep it. It does have a few blemishes but the grips have matching serial numbers and the bore is excellent.

Model 12's are a tough market. Most folks don't even know what they are, much less want one.

That being said, I personally love them. If you have the original box and paperwork, a guess would be $475-525 to the right buyer. And not many are just floating around these days.

They make awesome carry guns in the 2 inch version. And the flat latch models like yours aren't seen that often anymore.

Many were sold back in the day to folks who loaded them up and put them in a nightstand drawer or sock drawer for home defense. I have two that lived that life for many years.

This 12-3 square butt is one of my favorite carry guns.

I'd like to carry one, but I'd have to pay to get it round butted, and others may be turned off by the square butt if they aren't familiar with that model. I agree with oldafsp on the price for the right buyer.

I appreciate the info guys, I don't have the box for this one so I guess I'll have to price it accordingly. I do like it I'm just trying to get the funds for another project. Thanks again.

I'd say $500 in a private sale is do-able. Some (like me) won't look at a Model 12, as they are sometimes found with frame cracks. Good or bad, true or false, I simply avoid them.
