12 volt air compressors

Not really a compressor but an auxiliary tank with hose works great. You can close valve after charging and it WILL NOT leak. You can buy them new for $39 but I see them on CL all the time for 20 bucks. Bought mine used 2 yrs ago

Update. I received the VIAIR compressor. The build quality looks good and it came in a nice carry bag. I used it to fill a tire and it took longer than I expected, then I realized why.

I'm at my summer home situated in the Colorado mountains at 11,000 ft elevation. The air is thin which makes the compressor about 35% less efficient. Given that, I'm still pleased with the unit.

I have a VIAIR 88P in both of my vehicles. They use battery clamps instead of plugging into the 12v "cigarette lighter" outlet because it draws more amps than the outlet can handle. So.... it is quite powerful and will blow up even a truck tire faster than you can say Peter Piper picked a ........

I also carry Safety Seal Tire Plug kits in both vehicles which I deem the best in tire repair kits. I have used Safety Seal kits to repair flats for us, friends, neighbors and even strangers in despair with not even one failure! The plugs are designed and meant to be permanent and I've never had one leak, fail or come loose - NEVER! I just got brand new tires on my Yukon SUV and the old tires had 40K on them with a total of 6 plugs in the 4 tires - no issues! When we moved into our new development, everyone was getting flats due to the construction going on here. Now that they are done building, that is a rare occurrence now.

The VIAIR 88P is not one of those little plastic flimsy units - it is all cast metal, strong and powerful & comes in its own compact case. While it might cost a few bucks more, it should last a lifetime and be able to be passed down! I have owned it for at least a decade and have used it many times.

They also make about a dozen models. Which model did you get?
