I have a 14-2 that dates to 1967. Did this originally come with diamond grip panels? or perhaps I should ask when they went away. Thanks.

Yours probably should have diamonds which went away in 1968, but you may have an earlier serial number that shipped late and by then they put non-diamonds on it. Even a letter would not indicate if the stocks were diamonds.
Don't . . . . for the money you would spend, you could trade for a very nice specimen and have an original gun. I have several shooter-grade guns I occasionally consider sending off for a refinish. Then, I consider that I probably wouldn't want to risk the finish if I had it all prettied up.
I believe that refinishing such a gun would actually hurt the value. It is what it is, a good, honest shooter. There is a Model 15-3 with a satin hard chrome finish on a local S&S about once a month. The guy is asking, I believe, $350 and no takers. I would sooner give $350 for an 85% gun than I would the refinished piece. That's just me, though.
The only way I would consider refinishing a shooter grade gun is for practical reasons. We have wicked humidity down here, and a good Model 19 with a satin hard chrome or Parkerized finish would do admirable duty as a sidearm for hunting, camping, or knocking about in a truck.
Excuse my rambling. I am killing time, waiting for it to warm up a little before I go out to work on fence. It is still 34* here at 10:25.

The 14-2 and 18-2 came with diamonds at first then without diamonds at the end of the dash 2 run.
I agree with Redlevel probably not worth putting that kinda money into a refinishing when clean examples are out there.
Have you removed the grips and looked inside for the serial number stamped.
If it matches they are original and it came that way.

What would a 6" -2, practically NIB, with all contents (tools etc.), and diamond target stocks be worth?

BTW, I have been assuming your grips are the smaller "Magna" style though after rereading nothing is mentioned.
The larger target style grips would not be numbered that late but could have been ordered special or could have been added later.

Diamond target stocks are getting pricey and will drive up the price about $100 to $150 depending on condition and type as there are several different styles some more desirable than others,
But generally in my neck of the woods the gun you described would be between $450 with Magnas up to as high as $650 dollars with Diamond target stocks and everything original.
