How did you do? You made out like a bandit, that's how you did. I recently paid $750 for one like it, without the box and tools, and was happy to get it for that price. Nice buy!.

Very nice looking S&W Model 14-3 and a heck of a price. Congratulations on the purchase. I like the long barrels too and enjoy shooting them.
That's the gun I used to use in a police bullseye league. You will love the long sight radius. It should nearly cut clover leaves at 25 yds with wadcutters.

Nice! Is it 3T? Mine is the 3T 6" version and I too wish I had strayed into the S&W obsession earlier.
Stolen! Those long barrels make me remember Lee Van Cleef sticking a stock on his long barrel Colt in "For a Few Dollars More".

...BenTook possession this week. The thing appears to have never been fired. The bluing is perfect and the cylinder is stiff to open and close. All the paperwork for the pistol is under the blue velvet plastic. The plastic is not in the greatest shape shape will send some
pics soon. I don't even want to shoot it. The trigger and action are much stiffer than the 14-2 well used gun I bought. Lock up on each cylinder is extremely tight. The rear sight is adjusted very far to the left which is a little alarming.

A little oil will probably loosen the action up. I wouldn't be alarmed about the rear sight, until you get it to the range anyway. Bet it shoots just fine.

I think you did OK. Those normally sell for around $1K in that condition. Seems like the long barrel ones are less desirable than the shorter ones.
